Philip Clayton Schmoll
Philip was born the youngest of four children in the family. His siblings consist of his sister
Susan Lynn, sons Scott and Geoffrey; William Michael-(deceased); Gregory Martin (Sally),
daughter Heather Grilley (Michael Grilley) son Ian (Nicole). Between his siblings, Philip
has a total of six nieces and nephews.
In the '50s, the Family had a home on Lake Freeman. After that, in the 60s', they
purchased a home on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver Indiana. Bill and Marge were
divorced in the early 1960's and she moved to Culver, Indiana. There, Marge
worked at Culver Military Academy to provide the wonderful education and
learning experiences that were available at the Academy's Summer and
Winter School programs for Philip and his brothers. Philip attended Culver
Military Academy. In summer school he was enrolled in the Woodcraft
Academy and in winter school, he was a Cadet in the Black Horse
Troop. He graduated from Culver Community High School in 1976.
Philip was active and enjoyed boating, skiing, sailing and all water sports with his
Family and friends while living on the lake. He was a very good water, trick,
slalom and bare foot skier. He was also an excellent sailor and was a member
of the Makinkuckee Yacht Club.
After graduating from high school in Culver, Philip returned to Indianapolis
where he worked for in his Father's Commercial and Industrial Park on the
North East Side of Indianapolis. During that time he learned the residential
and commercial construction business and trade. Philip became a very
accomplished carpenter, framer, and custom wood worker during this time.
It was in Indianapolis where Philip met and married Peggy Ann Welch on
October 6, 1979. They have 3 daughters; Tara Nicole Leider (James Lieder)
sons Aschton Michael Thomas Haywood and Sayer James Lieder; Calie Marie
Blair (Robert Blair), daughter Annabelle Rene Blair; and Morgan (fiancée Keith
He lived in Indianapolis, until 1990 at which time he moved to Tampa, Florida.
He continued in the residential building business while in Florida.
Philip died in Pinellas Park Florida. Philip will be missed - as a Father and a
Brother and a Friend. He is in a Better Place now and, God has accepted him
into his kingdom and will continue to guide him. With his Children and Family
now living across the Country, various private services will be held; in
Indianapolis in the Crown Hill Cemetery in the Schmoll Family Section and; at
sea in Tampa Florida and, in Minnesota; to remember and celebrate his life.
