Joseph Anderlohr, proprietor of the Culver Greenhouse, will leave Thursday from Chicago by
German plane, Lufthansa, for Frankfurt, Germany arriving there at 7:10 p.m. Friday. |
Mr. Anderlohr will spend a month visiting his sister, Mrs. joseph Beetz, and other relatives whom he
has not seen since he came to the United States 31 years ago.
Mr. Anderlohr was born at Frankfort Germany and came to Mishawaka in 1937 where he was a chef at
a Mishawaka Hotel for two years. He then purchased a grocery store at 535 West 4th Sreet which
he operated until five years ago when he purchased the Culver Greenhouse.
During his visit in Germany, a family reunion will be held in his honor.
Mr. Joseph P. Anderlohr, Sr., 73, of 427 South Main Street, Culver, died at 9:30 a.m.
Monday, December 3, 1973 at Plymouth's Parkview Hospital, following a brief illness.
Mr. Anderlohr was born April 14, 1900, in Germany, to Michael and Anna (Bippes) Anderlohr.
He came to the United States in 1929, and lived in Mishawaka for many years before coming to
Culver in 1953.
He was a grocer in Mishawaka for 25 years, and operated the Anderlohr Florist shop in Culver
until his retirement in 1961.
He was a member of St. mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Culver. He was also a member of the
Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Culver Lions Club.
He was first married to Pauline Blum in 1923. She preceded him in death in 1952.
He then married Joyce B. McNees in 1953. She survives, along with a son, Joseph P. Anderlohr,
Jr., Culver; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Loretta) Baillie, Marblehead, Massachusetts; one sister,
Mrs. Elsie Beetz, Urtzburg, Germany; and six grandchildren.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
Services were held today, December 6th, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver, with Rev.
Joseph A. Lenk, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Mishawaka,
where graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m.
The Bonine Funeral Home, Culver, was in charge of arrangements. The Rosary was recited at the funeral

Swampscott — Loretta (Anderlohr) Baillie, age 82, wife of the late Joseph Baillie, Sr., of
Swampscott, formerly of Marblehead, died at North Shore Medical Center, Salem, following a
brief illness.
Born in Mishawaka, Indiana, Mrs. Baillie was the daughter of German immigrants, the late
Joseph and Pauline (Blum) Anderlohr. She attended local schools, and following her
graduation from high school, Mrs. Baillie underwent nursing training. She then married her
late husband and moved to South Bend, Indiana, where they began their family.
A few years later, they moved to Marblehead in the early 1960’s, where they raised their
children in a warm and loving home. A talented and creative woman, Mrs. Baillie had an
artistic flair, which she shared with her children and grandchildren. Among her many talents
she enjoyed gardening and crafts, including stained glass and ceramics, for which she had
been awarded “Best in Show” at the Topsfield Fair.
She was an active member of the Catholic Church, and was a devoted mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother.
Mrs. Baillie is survived by four children, Jon-eric Baillie, MD and his wife Joan of Boise,
Idaho, Joe Baillie and his wife Nancy of Washington, DC, Kathleen Baillie of Salem, and
Edward Baillie and his wife Michele of Marblehead; a brother Friar Josef Anderlohr O.F.M of
Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren Allison Sedwick, Traci Baillie Miller, Craig Baillie Jr.,
twins Laura Wong Dock and Paula Baillie Lewis; and five great grandchildren, Harry Miller,
Charlie Miller, Alexander Lewis, Kainoa Wong Dock and Daylen Rae Baillie. Mrs. Baillie is
predeceased by her husband, Joseph M. Baillie, and her son, Craig J. Baillie.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 9:15 AM from the Murphy
Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St.), Salem, to be followed by a Funeral Mass at
10 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead, MA 01945. Relatives and
friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM.

Mrs. Joyce Beck Anderlohr, 75, of 515 E. Monroe, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial
HOspital after a lengthy illness.
She was formerly a co-owner of a floral shop in Culver.
She was born on feb 25 1906 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
SHe was married to earl McNees, who died in 1952, anf later married JOseph Anderlohr, who
died in 1973.
A miece, Mrs. Riby Stephens of Jacksonville, fla. survives.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Rev. Michael D> Couhig, C.S.C, associate pastor,
officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
