Street.
Ira McLANE, well known Culver florist, died early yesterday morning at his residence in
Culver . The florist had
been in ill health for several weeks. His son will arrive from California Friday and rites will be held at Culver , Saturday,
10 a.m. The deceased is the father of Mrs. Byron STUDEBAKER, Indianapolis, and had a host of acquaintances and

Ira McClane Died Tuesday Morning
William Ira McClane, age 85, retired florist, died at his home on WHite Street early Tuesday morning after an
illiness of eight months.
He was born in Miami county, Indiana. moved with his family to Culver in 1901 and has lived here ever since.
except from 1925 to 1930 when they lvied in Logansport.
They returned in 1930 and he operated the Culver Greenhouse for 11 years.
He was a member of the United Brethern church in Miami county and after moving to Culver, attended the
Metohist church, where services will be conducted Saturday morning at ten o'clock with Rev. Ralph M. Jones
pastor of the church in charge.
Burial will be at the Culver Masonic Cemetery
Surviving are the widow, Margaret Frances; four daughters: Mrs. Clara Medbourn of Culver,
Mrs. Martha Forbes of Gary, Mrs. Helen Kennedy of Logansport, and Mrs. June Studebaker of Indianapolis; three sons Will of Los Angles
Calif; Vernon of Plymouth and Frank of Culver; 28 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Easterday funeral Home until noon Friday when the body will be removed to the

Mrs Margaret Frances McLane Dies Thursaday
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Frances McLane, mother of superintendent of schools of Marshall County,
were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Culver Methodist Church were she was a member
Rev. Ralph Jones of South Bend officiated and was assisted by Rev. Harry Campbell, pastor of the
church.
Interment was at the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. McLane, who had been ill for several weeks, died early Thursday morning at the home of her
granddaughter, Mrs. Catherine Raines, in Plymouth.
The daughter of James and Martha Sitt Bowers, she was born in Miami county, Indiana on Jan. 7, 1868
They came to Culver to reside 52 years ago and for a number of years they operated the Culver
Greenhouse.
Mr. McClane preceded her in death 10 years ago and sone son, Edwin, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are four daughters Mrs. Claire Mdbourn of Culver, Mrs. Martha Forbis of Gary, Mrs. Helen
Kennedy of Logansport, and Mrs. June Studebaker of Van NUys Calif; and three sons William of
Los Angles, Calif, Vernon of Plymouth and Frank of Culver. There are 23 grandchildren and 42 great

Mrs. C. Medbourn Dies After Illness Of Several Months
Mrs. Charles E. (Claire) Medbourn, 81, 290 South Shore Drive, Culver , died at 5 a.m. Tuesday,
Jan. 25, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry D. Edgington, 286 South Shore Drive, Culver ,
following an illness of nine months.
Mrs. Medbourn was born on March 7, 1884, in Miami County, Ind., to Ira and Margaret F.
(Bowers) McLane, and lived nearly all of her life in Culver , with the exception of a few years
in Logansport. She was married in 1902 to Charles E. Medbourn who preceded her in death on
April 29, 1952.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donna L. Edgington, and Mrs. Marilyn M. Herrmann , both
of Culver ; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Kennedy, Logansport, and Mrs. June Studebaker, Thousand Oaks,
Calif.; two brothers, Vernon McLane, South Bend, and Frank McLane of, Culver ; seven grand children
and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Medbourn was a member of the Culver Methodist Church where services w i l l be held at 2
p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, w i t h the pastor, Rev. Carl Q. Baker, officiating. Burial will be made in
the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Easterday Bonine Funeral Home, Culver , after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan.
26, until noon on Friday, Jan. 28, and then at the church until the hour of the service. -
