James I. Barnes Construction Company 1920-1953

    Barnes Construction was working extensively for the Culver Military Academy at the time.

    In 1937 the company was incorporated headed by his seven daughters and Frederick G. Drompp, his son-in-law as general manager. With construction in twenty-five states of the union. Main offices of the company are established in Logansport. Branch offices were established in Springfield and Dayton, Ohio, with R. H. Stahl, as manager; Logansport with W. C. Morris, manager; Santa Monica, Cal., with S. O. Sprager manager; Redwood city, California with J. B. Allen, manager; Seattle, Washington with S. J. Kolar, manager.

    Russell L. Easterday was head of the new Culver Division and Mr Barnes told Russell that if he wanted to buy the company, he was to put a price on it and Mr Barnes would accept the price offered.

    Russell L. Easterday Construction & Supply Company was created as the Culver division and of subsidiary James I. Barnes Construction of Logansport, Indiana

    In 1953 it was purchased from the James I. Barnes Construction and was organized as a partnership of Russell L Easterday and his wife, Wanda.

    They eventually relocated their office to Slate Street site c. 1958 where the materials and supplies storage buildings were located, and still this the current location of their main offices today.
