 Emil A Leader Dies In Hospital  

Emil A Leader, 83, of 152  Leader St., died early Friday  morning 
April 14 Parkview Hospital, where he had been a patient for 
several days.

Mr. Leader, a retired Chcago policeman, was born March 20 1878, 
at Medaryville, Indiana.

He had resided in Culver since his retirement from the police
forice in Chicago and was a member of the Culver Masonic  
Lodge.

Surviving relatives include a sister, Mrs. Lydia Tiedt, Syracuse, 
and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at  the Easterday Funeral Home 
in Culver with Rev. V. L. Palmer, pastor of the Emmanual Evangelical 
Unitid Brethern Church, officiating. 

Burial was made at the Culver Masonic Cemetery. - 19 Apr. 1961

Mrs Emil Leader Dies After Prolonged Illness 

After an illness of ten years Mrs. Emil A Leader passed away Thursday, 
September 15, at her home here at the age of
59 years.

She was born in New York state and was united in marriage at Kendallville, 
Ind. to which place she was returned for burial.

Mr. and Mrs. Leader moved to Culver a decade ago from Chicago where Mr. 
Leadery was on the police 

Short funeral services were held saturday in the Easterday chapel, Rev. 
J. H. Rilling officiating and the body was taken to Kendallville where Rev. 
W  I Willmert conducted the funeral services on Monday

Mrs. Emil A Leader

Mrs. Emma Christena Leader nee Reamer, was born September 2, 1873 at Lverenceburg, 
New York. 

Died September 12, 1932 at Culver Indiana  age 59 years and 12 days. 

She was united in marriage to Emil  A. Leader April 8 1900 at Kendallville Indiana. 

There were no children to her marriage.

Surviving are her  husband Emil A Leader of Culver, Indiana; two brothers John Reamer 
of Kendalville, Indiana and Charles Reamer of Chicago, Ill; and one sister Lucinda 
Havarter of Helmer, Indiana. 

She has been preceeded by her father, mother, sister and three brothers.

She was a truly religious woman and spent a great deal of her leisure time reading the 
bible anchoring her faith in the 14th chapter of St. John's gospel and the 23rd Psalm. 
Her favorite songs were all of a religous nature: "Beautiful Isles of Somewhere", 
"Saved By Grace", "in The Garden" and the  Old Rugged Cross"

During her stay in Culver she was never able to join any church or take any active part
in it on account of her health, which has been failing for the last 10 years - 21 Sep

Mrs. Emil Leader  died Dec. 8 at the home of her sister and funeral 
services were held Dec. 11 in Chatham Fields Evangelical Lutheran 
Church.

Interment was in the Cedar Park Cemetery.

She was 56 years of age.

Besides the widower, who lives in Culver, two sisters Mrs. Anna Schmid 
and Mrs. Emily Morgan Survie.

Frederick J. Leader Succumbs to Long Illness

Frederick John Leader, age 73, died Saturday evening in a Logansport hospital, after an illness
of ten years. 

He was born at Medaryville, Indiana on September 18, 1876. 

When fourteen years of age he moved with life parents to Vicksburg, Michigan.

He lived in Kendallville. Ind., and Chicago before coming to Culver in 1917 to reside.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Tiedt, Culver, Mrs. Minnie Fields, Elkhart, Ind., and
Mrs. Mary English, Chicago; two rothers, William Leader , Hammond Ind.. and Emil Leader,
Culver. 

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Easterday Funeral Home with  Rev. 
G. I. Roederer officiating.

Burial was at the Culver cemetery.  - APRIL 12, 1950  Citizen




William Leader, 91 Died Tuesday 

William Leader, aged  91 years passed way Tuesday evening at the  J. A. 
Tiedt home of complications.

He was the father of Mrs. J. A. Tiedt and Emil A Leader, and had made his home with 
his children for several years.

Funeral services will be held Friday at the Culver Evangelical church at 11:00 a.m.

This is the third death in four months in the Emil Leader family, a sister and  wife  having 
passed on during that time  - 1 Mar 1933  Citizen




Re. William Ludwig Leader son of Theodre and Mary Leader  was  born August 18th 1842 at
Taterow Mecklenburg, Ger,amu ans passed away February 28, 1933, at the home of his
daughre, Mrs. H. A. Tiedt, Culver, Indiana.

Reaching the ripe age of 90 years, 6 months and 10 days. 

He came to America whe a young man and located at Kendallville, Ind., where he soon 
became  a citizen of the Inited States. 
 
In the year 1863 he was united in marriage with Miss Sophia WIlks of Kendallville. 

This union was blessed with nine children, five daughters and four sons.

His wife and two daughters and one son preceded him in death.

Through the ministry  of Rev. Miker Krueger, Brother Leader was converted and united with 
the Evangelical church which he well served as Sunday School Superintendent and Class 
Leader  and also  as a minister of the gospel. 

He was a fine student and soon acquired a comprehnsive knowledge of the bible - plus a 
natural  ability as a  speaker made him a strong preacher and a successful evanelist. He was a 
soul winner  and loved to conduct revival meetings. After he located he would assist ministers 
in their ecvangelistic meetings. 

At the INdianapolis confernec in 1869 Brother Leader received his license to preach.

His first field of labor consisted of twenty-two appointments with  Rev. George Shamo as  
assistant. Services were conducted on Sunday and during the week in private homes, school 
houses, and  few chruches. He traveled by horseback over rough roads, narrow trails through 
thick forest, and fording bridgeless Streams. He too could say: None of these thngs move me" - 
St Paul.

Rec Leader served the following fields: Twin Lakes Circuit, Medaryville, San Pierre and Wanatah. 
Many united with the church thorugh his earnest and scrificial service. Poor health was the 
cause of  his early retirement. 

Those ho mourn his departure are the following: Three daughters, three sons, ten grandchildren, 
andmany relatives and friends.

Rev. Leader was buried in Culver Cemetery. Rev. Johnston, P.E.,. preached the sermon and Rev. 
Losier of Rochester and Rev. Wilmert of VanWert, O. assisting with Rev. J. H. RIlling. - Mar 8 1933
