Hackett-Hough

A simple but impressive double ring wedding ceremony was solemnized in the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Hackett, at 545 Jackson St. Gary, Thursday evening, March 4, at 8:30 when Rev. William Switzer of the Methodist Church inited in marriage, Bonnie Lennor Hough daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell H. Hough of Gary, and Pvt. Fernwood D. Hackett.

The bride, given in marriage by her father was attired in a aqua blue suit with navy accessories and wore a corsage of orchids and sweet peas.

Miss Dorothy Ellsworth was maid od honor and wore a yellow flannel suit and corage of roses and violets. Miss June Driver was bridesmaid and wore a dress of beige crepe and corsage or roses and sweet peas. Misses Sally Ann Logan and Charlene Hough nieces of the bride and groom, were ring bearers. Paul Bassin attended the groom and James Miller was best man. Both were college friends of the groom at Northern Illinois Scholl of Optometry.

The mothers of both bride and groom wore navy blue and corsages of yellow roses and sweet peas.

Thirty guests attended and a reception followed. A two-tiered wedding cake topped by a minature bride and groom decorated the center of the table.

The bride is a graduate of Horance Mann, class of 1940 and attededed Adrian College, Adrian, Mich where she affiliated with the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was employed as cashier in the Northern Indiana Public Service Co. until her resignation on March 1.

The groom also graduated from Horace Mann, class of 1938 and attended Michigan State College at E. Lansing, Mich. where he was amember of Phi Theta Upsilon fraternity, and was a senior at the Northern Illionois School of Optometry at the time if his induction in the army Nov. 7. He left Ft. Sheridan and tiil his basic training at Kessler Field, Miss. and later, a two months clerical training course at Colorado State College, Ft. Collins, Colo. Because he graduated there highest in his class he was assigned to a position in the War Department as an administratice assistant in the organization department of base services, a branch of the army airforces in the Pentagon building, Arlington, Va. for the duration.

The new Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Hackett left Gary Friday afternnon for Washington D.C. where they will make their future home

Mr. and Mrs. Laurence B. Hackett, parents of the groom spent the last two years at their cottage on Long Point, the "Bellewood Lodge". A Present they are working in Gary for the duration. - 17 Mar 1943 - Citizen citizen.

	
Dr. Fernwood "Bud" Devon Hackett, 91, died Dec. 27, 2011, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee. 

He was born in North Judson, IN and lived in Okeechobee for 12 years, coming from Gary, IN.

He was a doctor of optometry.

He served as a Lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee.

He was a Little League coach and Boy Scout leader, having earned the Silver Beaver Award.

He was a member of Kiwanis.

Survivors: Children,  Larry Hackett of Okeechobee, Pamela Manning of Glenwood, IA, Deborah Williams 
of Holly Springs, NC &  Terry Hackett of Suwannee, GA; 7 Grandchildren; 5 Great-grandchildren

Preceded in death by:Wife of 42 years, Bonnie Lenore Hough Hackett amd 1 Grandchild

A memorial will be at 11 a.m Dec. 30 at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home in Okeechobee. 
 
 Interment will be at Leiters Ford IOOF Cemetery in Leiters Ford, IN. -  TC Palm on December 28, 2011
