1952 - Mar 19 - Opens Cleaning Establishment in Culver

    Clyde Hickman, Sr., Is the proprietor of a new Cluver business firm.

    The Ideal Cleaners, which opened for busines on Mondsy.

    The business is located at 108 South Main Street in the Wickizer building.

    The cleaning business is not unfamilar to Mr. Hickman since he has had 20 years experince in this field, he has recently been affiliated with a cleaning establishment in Plymouth. He resides in Grovertown at the present and does plan to move here till his children have completed the school term.

    Frank Henderson, well known businessman, wha purchased the Ideal Cleaners at 108 East Washington Street from Cyde Hickman and has already taken possesion of the establishment.

    The Ideal Cleaners will continue to give Culver area people a complete pressing, dry cleaning, laundry and rug cleaning service.

    In addition, Mr. Henderson will transfer his picture framing business, a home sideline in which he had made a splendid reputation, to his new location.

    Down Realtors handled the transaction.

    Frank Henderson, who was born and reared in Culver, has been active in community affairs since his graduation from Culver High School in 1922 and from the South Bend College of Commerce.

    For more than 20 years he was connected with the Culver Military Academy QM store.

    Leaves Culver Clothiers.

    When Fred Adams bought out Mitchell & Stabenow, half-century old local clothing firm. Frank joined him as a salesman. Then when the Culver Clothiers, Inc. bought out Mr. Adams last Feb 4 he continued with the new namagement in the same capacity untill he decided to enter the retail business himself.

    Mrs. Henderson will help out on a part-time basis at the Ideal Cleaners.

    Mr. and Mrs. Henderson are the Parents of two daughters Sue (Mrs. Bernard Busart) and Debbie, who is in the fifth grade of school.

    Clyde Hickman has been in the dry cleaning and laundry business here for the past 5 1/2 years, first on Main Street and then for the last 3 1/2 years in the present location. His future business plans are undecided but he intimated that he will be on a semi-retired basis. The Hickmans are residents of Burr Oak.


Hinkle's Ideal Cleaner - 108 E. Washington B
    1962 Oct 31- Henry Hinkle Buys Ideal Cleaners

    Ideal Cleaners, 108 East Washington St., has been purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hinkle, owners of Jack's Taxi firm. The transaction took place on Oct. 15. The new firm will be known as Hinkle's Ideal Cleaners.

    Frank Henderson, the former owner, has accepted a position with Kline's Appliance Store. Mr. Henderson operated the cleaning establishment for five years.

    ] The new owners will continue, in the cleaning and laundry business, but will add a new feature. Mrs. Hinkle, who has been head seamstress at the Academy for 14 years, will do mending and alterating of clothes for customers who wish this service.

    Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle will add a hew high speed commercial sewing machine in the next few days. The firm will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on week days

        Ideal Cleaners Move To New Location

        The Ideal Cleaners, operated by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hinkle, now do business in their own new quarters in a newly-constructed building across the street from their former location.

        The cement-block building is located at 105 East Washington Street and it boasts an attractive glass window front. Materials were supplied by Culver's Marshall County Lumber Company, with Cecil Lucas doing the masonry work.

        The Ideal Cleaners maintain their same telephone number, 842-2200 and are open Mondays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. THURSDAY, JULY 20, 1967 - Citizen-
