Earl C. Mishler
This is anniversary month for Earl mishler, who jined what is now the
Northern Indiana Public Service Company,
August 1, 1918.
The company was then the Hawk's Electric Light co., at Milford, later became the
Interstate Public Service Company and then NIPSCO. In 1931
Mr. Mishler went to Warsaw where he became general foremand and remained until coming to
Culver as manager January 1, 1936. Earl is no stranger to Marshall county as he was born
at Tyner and attended high school in Plymouth.
He recalls playing against Culver in various forms of athletics. His grad school education
was obtained at Nappanee, and he worked for five years on a dredge before joining the
electric light company
.
Since he has always been intrested in athletics it is only natural that he is president
of the Culver Softball League, and he is doing a bang up job, too. He is also vice president
of the Chamber of Commerce.

Culver - Earl C. Mishler, 59, died Sunday morning in the Cylor-Nickels Clinic,
Bluffton, Ind., where he underwent ab operation severak days ago. He had been
ill for 14 years.
Mr. Mishler was born in tyner, Ind. and attended school in Plymouth, Ind. weher he
was actice in track and baseball.
After the death of his father, he and his brothe Jeff operated his father's
dredging machine for several years.
In September 1918, he began working for the Northern Indiana Public Service Co.,
in Syracuse and later was transferred to Warsaw, where he remained 15 years before
coming to Culver as manager in Decemeber 1934. In 1948, he retired because of poor
health
He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Chamber of Commerce
and was a charter member of the Lions Club in Culver and the BPOE of Warsaw, Ind.
Nov. 14, 1914 he married Zazel Wakley, of Akron, Ind. who survives with a daughter
Mrs. Mary Jane Crump of Indianapolis; a son, Dan M. Culver; the mother Mrs. Olive
Mishler, SOuth Bend; a sister Mrs. Pearl Holfus, Los Angles; five brothers: Jeff A.,
New Albany, Indiana; Ira B., Milo D. and Ora F. all of South Bend; and John G. of
LaPorte, Ind. and a grandson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Culver Methodist Church, Rev,
Ralph JOnes of SOuth Bend will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
