1927 - Aug. 3- Electric Sub-Station Finshed and In Use
    Give Better Service

Northern Indiana Publice Service Company Installs Important Link Here.

Last Wednesday night a switch was thrown and 33,000 volts of electricity passed into the new sub-station at Behmer corner north of town, putting it into servce as a part of the improvement program of the Northern Indiana Public Service company

Work was started on this project last February by stinging new and heavier lines to Plymouth, while actual work int the sub-station has taken about two months. It is estimated that this improvement has cost about $30,000.

This substation formas an important linke in the network of electric wires of this company, and will handle the "juice" that goes south to Delong, Leiters Ford, Kewanna and other towns in that vicinity; and west to North Judson, Knox and Hamlet.

33,000 volts will be brought to this station from the main line and here will be stepped down to 13,2000 volts so as to enter towns with safety.

This will provide better service for Culver and these other towns served from this sub-station as the supply for increased demands will be much greater and closer.

The inconveniece of breaks in the service as have occurred her so frequently in the past will be brought to an end by the installation of automatic relays at this new sub-station.

The company has also looked out for the public's welfare by allowing part of the land at this subsatation for rounding off the corner from the Behmer road to Road 10, thus doing away with a sharp and dangerous turn.

The wire fence that has been erected to keep the public away from the high voltage does not hamper visibility at this corner either.
