Laurence B. Hackett

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Easterday funeral home in Culver for Laurence B. HACKETT, 74, Culver , who died at 12:30 a.m. today at Osteopathic hospital in South Bend where he had been a patient only a few days.

Mr. Hackett was born April 2, 1887, in North Carver, Mass. He was married Aug. 20, 1910, to Chloe C. BARGER, who survives. He resided in North Judson and Gary for several years before coming to Culver 21 years ago. He operated the Hackett Boat Landing on the West shore of Lake Maxinkuckee. At the age of six years, he came to Rochester to make his home with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd CLEMANS and spent his childhood here.

Surviving, along with the widow, are one daughter, Mrs. John LOGAN, Chesterton; one son, Dr. F. D. HACKETT, Gary; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Kendall SANDS will officiate at the services and burial will be in the Leiters Ford I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Lawrence Hackett Dies Today at Age Of 74

Lawrence B. Hackett, age 74, of 1061 West Shore Drive, died early this morning at Osteopathic Hospital in South Bend where he had been a patient for several flays. He had been suffering from a severe heart condition forseveral weeks.

Mr. Hackett was born April 2, 1887, at North Carver, Mass. At the age of six, he came to Rochester to make his home with Mr.and Mrs. Floyd Clemans.

On Aug. 20, 1910, he was married to Chloe C. Barger of Leiters Ford, where they resided for eight years. They also lived in North Judson and Gary before coming to Culver 2 years ago and since that time have operated the Hackett Boat Landing on the West Shore of Lake Maxinkuckee.

He had a great interest in children and will be especially missed by his many young friends.

Survivors include his wife, Chloe; a daughter, Mrs. John Logan, Chesterton; a son, Br. F. B. Hackett, Gary; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the Easterday Funeral Home where friends may call. Rev. Kendall E. Sands, pastor of the Methodist Church will officiate with burial at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Leiters Ford.

Mrs. Chloe C. HACKETT, 85, Culver , died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Porter Memorial hospital in Valparaiso following 1 1/2 years of illness.

Mrs. Hackett was born May 17, 1888 in Kewanna to John and Carrie FREELS BARGER. She moved to Culver in 1941 from Gary.

She was married Aug. 20, 1910, in Rochester to Lawrence B. HACKETT. He died in 1961. Mrs. Hackett, along with her husband, operated the Hackett boat landing on Lake Maxinkuckee.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. John (Annabelle) LOGAN, Chesterton; one son, Dr. F. D. HACKETT, Gary; one brother, Ernest A. BARGER, St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren. A sister preceded in death.

Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Bonine funeral home in Culver with the Rev. Philip LUTZ officiating. Burial will be in the Leiters Ford I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the Bonine funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.

She lived in Culver since 1941, coming from Gary.

Mrs. Hackett and her husband operated the Hackett Boat Landing on West Shore Drive.

Mrs. Hackett married Lawrence B. Hackett on Aug. 20, 1910 in Rochester. Mr. Hackett died July 26, 1971

Surviving Mrs. Hackett are a daughter, Mrs. John (Annabelle) Logan, Chesterton; a son, Dr. F. D. Hackett, Gary; and a brother, Ernest A. Barger, St. Petersburg, Fla. A sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hackett had 8 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, July 27, at 2:oo p.m. at the Bonine Funeral Home, Culver, with Rev. Philip Lutz, pastor of the Leiters Ford U n i t e d Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F Cemetary, Leiters Ford.
