Letters of opinion are desired as to desirability and number of young people ages 10 to 20 years who are interested in a work skill and hobby shop where you can do your own creative work under supervision. Plastics, wood work, ceramics, models, sewing, welding, soldering, etc. would be presented. Administration would be for senior members with junior assistants. Dues would be small. Editor, CITIZEN: Enclosed is an article from The Chicago Tribune of Jan. 29 which your readers may enjoy.

My daughter, Bernadette, and her sister, Elaine, who is studying aviation electronics in the Navy at Memphis, did water skiing on Lake Maxinkuckee the past three years.

We recently sold our cottage at 1174 South Shore Drive. We are the people who bought John Cleveland's Pen Yan boat and motors. We are now building a home four miles south of Culver. S. KENT LONDAK

Editor's note: The Chicago Tribune story (which carried Bernadette's picture) said in part: "Three Chicago area pupils are among the 40 high school seniors eligible to win a $7,500 college scholarship award by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, it was announced yesterday. The 40 topped 25,039 contestants in the firm's 17th annual science talent search. The winner of the scholarship will be chosen after the 40 have taken part in a conference in Washington, D. C., beginning Feb. 28.

In addition to the trip to the capital and a five-day stay there, each will receive at least $250. The Chicago area contestants include Bernadette G. Londak, 17. of-7749 Langley Ave., a Mercy High. School student.

Bernadette is one of the three daughters of Mr. and Mrs. S. Kent Londak. Her father owns a boiler repair business.

The title of the essay she wrote for the competition is 'Geographic Proof of Kepler's Second Law.'.

Young Scientist Bernadette Genevieve Londak, 17, of 7749 Langley av., with her science display takes part in an exhibit held at the Statler hotel, Washington, D. C. as a feature of the 17th annual Science Talent institute. Bernadette is one of the 40 Science Talent Search winners who were chosen from among the 25,000 entrants througout the country. On a fiveday, expense-free visit to Washington, the 40 winners are competing for $34,250 in Westinghouse science scholarships and awards. Her display and trip-winning project concerned a geometric proof she developed for one of the laws describing the motion of a planet around the sun. - The Daily Calumet Wed, Mar 05, 1958 ·Page 2
