The committee was surprised and gratified to receive on Saturday a large and
valuable collection from the Misses Robinson of Indianapolis. The collection
included sets of Shakespeare, Emerson, Burns, James Whitcomb Riley and Cyrus
Townsend Brady. The accompanying letter from Miss Anna Robinson expressed an
interest in Culver's effort to establish a library and stated that she and her
sisters would be glad to make a further donation of tables and chairs.
There is no doubt that other cottagers will feel enough interest in the movement
to help us.
Mean time let us at home, all over the township, take up the matter with an
enthusiasm that shows we mean business.
This is a people's proposition in which everyone, in town and country is
interested. A beautiful library building will be as much the property of
the country people as of the town people, and the public comfort and
restroom features will be especially valuable to out of town residents.
1914 - Apr 16 - Library Honor Roll.
Contributions of books for the public library are coming in day by day. The
number is now over 350.
There ought to be 1,000 volumes on the shelves by May 1.
This number is easily possible if the people will take hold of the project.
Nothing better for the people of Culver and Union township has been instituted
in many years. The pleasure and profit to be derived from free access to an
abundance of good reading is worth while making an effort for. The more each
individual puts into a library the more he is able to take out.

1914 - Apr 23 - Get Busy, Good People !
During the past week 18 more names have been added to the public library honor roll,
and the number of volumes thus far donated is over 400.
Only one more week remains of this honor roll contest, and it would be rather a fine
thing, if you are intending to make the library a present of one or more books, to
have your name inscribed.
Of course a great many people are intending to give the books they can spare,
and donations will keep coming in all summer. The gift will be acceptable later
as well as now, but if it is made before May 1, your name will be preserved
permanently as one who helped start the good work.

The library committee was delighted on Tuesday to receive a check for $75 from
Mrs. Elizabeth Marmon of Indianapolis. The donation was entirely voluntary and
was inspired solely by Mrs. Marmon's interest in the effort to establish a
reading center in culver.
