Pledges for Library building 1914  



On November 30th, a group of merchants and business people pledged the purchase price for the lot on Main Street between the bank and the Methodist Church


and transcribed as follows :
    Nov 30, 1914

    To The Honorable Library Board,
    Culver -Union Township, Library,
    Culver , Indiana

    We The undersigned hereby recommend to you for your kind consideration as a site for the propposed Library building to be situated in the town of Culver City, Marshall Cunty, Indiana the following described Real Estate situate in Marshall County, Indiana - to-wit:

    Lot number Eight (8) and the North Six (6) Feet of Lot Number Seven (7) in Houghton's corrected plat of the orginial town of Uniontown, later called Marmont and now called Culver City, Marshall County, Indiana.

    It is our common opinion that the above site will best serve the public.

    We herby severall and jointly bind ourselves to raise the purchase price of $1450.00 for the aboive described Real Estate and present the same to your honorable board free and clear of any and all encumberances.
