Ralph Edward Treanor, 60, a former chief deputy treasurer of St. Joseph County, died at
10:30 a.m. today in his home, 1405 N. Wilber St. He had been ill several months.
Treanor served in the treasurer's office for 14 years, he was the chief deputy. In 1942,
he unsuccessfully sought the Democrat nomination for treasurer. During World War II, he
helped acquire land for the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant, LaPorte, and later held positions
in the plant.
Treanor was born Oct. 24, 1896, in South Bend. His father was Charles M. Treanor, one of
South Bend's first florists. His mother was the daughter of Samuel L. Good who was born
in a log cabin at the northwest corner of Main and Division Sts. Division St. now is
Western Ave.
In South Bend, Aug. 5, 1919, he married Marguerite Muessel. He was a veteran of World War
I and a member of Flanders Field Post 299, American Legion.
Graduate of Kewatin
A graduate of Kewatin Academy, Prairie Du Chien, Wis., Treanor also attended Howe Military
School, Stetson University, DeLand, Fla., and the University of Notre Dame.
Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Eloise Skora, South Bend, and Mrs. Elinor
M. Osborn, Culver; two grandchildren; a brother, William, and a half-brother, Harry A.
Wood, both of Los Angeles.
He was a member of the West Side Democratic & Civic Club and the Benevolent & Protective
Order of Elks.

REANOR - Funeral services for Ralph E. Treanor, of 1405 N. Wiber St., former St. Joseph
County treasurer, who died Friday, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Cathloic
Church. Rev. George Welch, C.S.C., pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview
Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the McGann Funeral Home where
friends may call after 7 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Mayor Edward F. Voorde, Robert
Muessel, Vern Rutherford, Harold Baker, George Sands and Lawrence Eck.

Marguerite Muessel Treanor, 84, of 1728 Jackson Road, died at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday in
Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 9, 1900, in South Bend and lived here all her life.
She was the great-granddaughter of Christopher Muessel, who founded Muessel Brewery in
1852.
On Aug. 5, 1919, in South Bend, she married Ralph Edward Treanor, who died in 1957.
Mrs. Treanor is survived by two daughter, Eloise D. Sikora, with whom she lived, and
Alienor T. T. Osborn of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel and entombment will
be in the Treanor Mausoleum in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Mrs. Treanor studied art at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, was active in the
American Red Cross Motor Corps during World War II, and in local politics.
Mrs. Treanor served as a precinct committeeman and was past president of American Legion
Post 299 Auxiliary.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of to the St. Joseph County
