Bryon H. Studebaker  

One of the most attractive spots in town is the Uptown Shop of the Culver Florists, located in the Johnson Building opposite the town park. The shop and the greenhouse are under the management of Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Studebaker, the latter being the former June McLane. The above picture shows Mr. Studebaker in one corner of the flower shop, where a complete line of potted plants and cut flowers, as well as novelty merchandise, are available at all times.

Mr. Studebaker was born at Fulton, Ind., where he attended grade school. His high school work was taken at Kokomo and Rochester, with graduation from the latter.

After working at Kokomo, Mr. Studebaker attended aviation school in Cleveland, O. and then returned to Rochester, where he was connected with the Barrett hotel for two and half years, following which he was employed by a construction comapany for five years.

Mr. Studebaker came to Culver of the Culver Florists.

The Uptown Shop was opened last November to meet increaing business and as an accommodation to customers, two yearas ago this month, and a year ago tool over the management. Mr. Studebaker is superintendent of the Methodist Sunday School - Culver Citizen Profile. Feb 07, 1940

Culver Citizen. "Culver - Bryon H. Studebaker, 87, of 1096 South Shore Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998 at 1:46 p.m. Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester.

Bryon was born April 9, 1911 in Fulton to Claude M. and Ethel Hicks Studebaker.

He was first married to June McLane on May 8, 1938 in Culver . She preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 1985.



He then married Dollis Z echiel Dillon on Nov. 28, 1987 in Culver . She survives. - - Since 1987 Bryon lived on Lake Maxinkuckee, coming from Oxnard, Ca.



A retired manufacturing engineer from Rockwell International, he was a member of Culver Grace United Methodist Church of Christ, American Cancer Society of Tooling & Manufacturing Engineers, past member of the Free and Accepted Masons and past editor of the Studebaker Family National Association.

Survivors also include a son Richard and Joyce Studebaker of Camarillo, Ca.; two step daughters, Cheryl and Thomas Boswell of Richmond, Va. and Joan and Allen Frees of Windsor, Ct.; a step-son Dr. Gary and Ann Dillon of Columbia ity; a granddaughter Michelle Studebaker of Camarill, Ca.; a grand son Steven Studebaker of Sacramento, Ca.; eight tep-grandchildren; a great grandson and two step great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his sister Rachel Crabill.


Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998 from noon to 1 pm at Grace United Church of Christ

Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Robert McCann officiating.
Burial will be in the Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Caramillo, Ca.

The Bonine Funeral Home in Culver is in charge of arrangements."
