1959 - Apr. 22 - Fire Destroys Geust House of Dale Fritz
Fire originating when sparks from a nearby dump ingnited marsh grass and
burned out of control completely destroyed a two-story guest house on West
Shore Drive, Wednesday afternoon.
With an estimated loss of $4,000 for the guest house, the fire, which
threatened to destroy several other cottages before being brought under
control aslo caused about $500 damage to the main cottage which stands
about 20 feet from the guest house. The property is owned by Dale Fritz,
who live in Winamac.
A garage on the adjacent property owned by Paul Humbert was also scorched
by the flames and about five trees were burned.
A neighbor, Mrs. Dan Weirick turned in the alarm at 1:55 p.m.
