CULVER — Sylvia P. Strader Dunnell, 93, of Culver, died at 10:43 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at her residence.

She is survived by a son, Dennis (Deborah) Strader of Fishers; a brother, Virgil D. Jordan of Mishawaka; sisters, Mildred Mandley of Mansfield, Ohio and Ruth Jacobsen of Mishawaka; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17 at Odom Funeral Home, 104 E. Lakeshore Dr., Culver.

Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Culver-Union Township Public Library, 107 N. Main, Culver, IN, 46511.

Sylvia P. Strader-Dunnell, 93, of Culver passed away at 10:43AM on Jan 9, 2010 at her home.

Sylvia was born on Nov 13, 1916 at Frankfort, IN, one of 5 children born to Virgil and Margaret (Hayes) Jordan. She graduated from the Hamlet School System and later in life attended Ancilla College.

Sylvia fell in love and married Virgil Strader. Together they had one son.

Sylvia & Virgil operated Quality Grocery in Culver for over 30 years, selling the store in the early 1970s. Virgil preceded her in death in 1980.

She later married Howard Dunnell. He also preceded her in death in May 2002.

Sylvia enjoyed reading mysteries, cooking, and gardening. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a special lady who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Sylvia is survived by her loving son - Dennis (Deborah) Strader of Fishers, IN; brother - Virgil D. Jordan of Mishawaka, IN; sisters - Mildred Mandley of Mansfield, OH and Ruth Jacobsen of Mishawaka, IN; and grandchildren - Matthew (Rebekka) Strader and David (Heather) Strader.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and a sister, Lillian Koltowski.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Culver-Union Township Public Library, 107 N Main, Culver, IN 46511 to purchase books in her memory.
