

Phyllis Anne Newcomb Zehner was born May 5th,1928, in Rochester, Indiana to H. Dean and D. Mearle Newcomb.
At the age of 87 she passed away peacefully May 8th, 2015 at the Hospice Center in Wichita, Kansas.
She lived in Goddard, Kansas near her second born daughter, Mary and her family.
Phyllis was a loving and giving mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord with all her heart and had a
wonderful kind and gentle spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert and oldest son, David, and her ex-husband, Oscar.
She graduated from Rochester High school in 1946. She also was active in Girl Scouts, 4-H club, Beta Sigma
Phi sorority, and the Rebecca lodge.
Her talented artistic ability was expanded by attenting Vogue Beauty College of South Bend and eventually
owning her own shop, the Village Beauty Salon in Culver, Indiana.
She is survived by six of her seven children, Carole (Terry) Seese, Madison, WI, Mary (Dan) Stockemer, Colwich,
KS, Ruth Mulholland and Bonnie Minney, Littleton, CO, Paula Weintraut, Port St. Lucie, FL, and Vance (Tracy)
Zehner, Verona, WI; twentytwo grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grand children, one great-great granddaughter and
one nephew Philip (Becky) Newcomb.
She will placed next to her parents at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Rochester, Indiana this summer.
Memorial services will be held at Medical Lodges of Goddard, Kansas on May 28th, at 3:30pm
Oscar Monroe Zehner, 87, died of natural causes on Oct. 18, 2014, at St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie,
Fla., after several months of illness at the St. Lucie Medical Center and Palm Garden, Port St. Lucie, Fla.,
Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility.
Born March 7, 1927, Plymouth, he was the son of Harold O. and Frances L. (Roberts) Zehner. He lived in Marshall
and Fulton counties most of his life. Moving to Michigan for a few years, he returned to Rochester before moving
to Port St. Lucie, Fla. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1945. He was active in the Marshall
County Rural Youth Organization and served as president in his early years.
On June 18, 1950, he married Phyllis A. Newcomb, Rochester. They divorced in 1999. She survives him and currently
resides at Medicalodge of Goddard Nursing Home, 501 Easy St, Goddard, KS, 67052, near daughter Mary Stockemer.
He was a farmer and worked for the Vigortone Products Company. He also worked in insurance sales and retired in 1998.
Survivors include daughters, Carole (Terry) Seese, Madison, Wis., Mary (Dan) Stockemer, Colwich, Kan., Ruth Mulholland,
formally of Rochester, now Littleton, Colo., Paula Weintraut, Fort Pierce, Fla., and Bonnie Minney, Littleton, Colo.;
one son, Vance (Tracy) Zehner, Verona, Wisc.; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a sister, Anna M. Bruski, Lockport N.Y.; sister-in-law Jean Zehner, Monticello; an uncle, Wayne
D Zehner, Plymouth; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arthur Zehner, Monticello, in 2005; sister Luella M. Moyer, Plymouth,
in 2012; and a brother-in-law, Fred Bruski in 1996.
No services were conducted. Burial is to be in the Poplar Grove Maxinkuckee IOOF cemetery, Culver. A family service is to
be conducted at a future date.
