Mr. and Mrs. D. Hatten will be honored on their 50th wedding - anniversary, with their children as hosts at open house in the social rooms of the Burr Oak Church, of God, Burr Oak, Ind., from 2-5 p.m. on December 8th.

No invitations have been sent.

The wedding of Mary Bernhard and Dominicus Hatten took place at the Evangelical parsonage in Hibbard with the Rev. Handschu performing the ceremony on December 22, 1918.

During their fifty years, they have resided in Culver and Mr. Hatten has been in business in Culver since 1919.

There are six children, Mrs. Frederick (Myrtle) Claussen of Oregon, Illinois; Mrs. John (Pearl) Bloom, of Granville, Illinois; Mrs. Dale (Fern) Davis of Culver; Donald Hatten of Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. Don (Marjorie) Overmyer of LaPorte and Mrs. Norman (Marilyn) Kelly of Culver.

They also have 11 grandchildren and 8 great grand children

    Prior to his career in automobile sales, he was a chauffeur for the Palmer House hotel. He owned an early car dealership in Culver at 415 E Lake Shore Drive in the east half of the building. He began selling Maxwell automobiles in 1921, and later, Chrysler and Dodge. In 1936, he purchased his location at Ohio Street and Lake Shore Drive, across the street from the (then) Culver High School, from Wayne Von Ehr.

      N. Fern DAVIS, 84, 730 School St., Culver , died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver

      She was born in Culver to Dominicus and Rose COOPER HATTEN. On March 18, 1931 in South Bend she married O. C. Dale DAVIS who died June 25, 1970.

      She was a retired offset typesetter and worked for six years at The Culver Press.

      She lived in Culver her whole life and was a member of the Burr Oak Church of God.

      Surviving are two sons, Edward D. [DAVIS], South Bend, and Larry E [DAVIS], Culver ; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-mother, Mary HATTEN, Culver ; one sister, Pearl BLOOM, Grandville, Ill.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Donald E. (Marjorie) OVERMYER, and Mrs. Norman (Marilyn) KELLY, both of Culver , and one brother, Donald HATTEN, Pocatello, Idaho.

      Precedig in death was a sister, Merle CLAUSSEN.

      Private graveside services will be held Saturay at the Leiters Ford I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Pastor Donald NUNEMAKER officiating. There will be no visitation. Bonine Funeral Home, Culver , is in charge of arrangements.

      Final rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Burr Oak Church of God for Dale DAVIS, 64, R.R. 1, Culver, who died Thursday at 8 a.m. in Woodlawn hospital.

      The Rev. Elsworth ROUTSON will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Leiters Ford.

      Friends may call at the Easterday-Bonine funeral home in Culver after 2 p.m. Saturday until noon on Sunday and at the church prior to services.

      A lifetime resident of the Culver community, Mr. Davis was born Nov. 23, 1905, in Fulton county. He was the son of Levi and Nancy COWEN DAVIS.

      His marriage was March 18, 1931, at South Bend, to Fern HATTEN, who survives.

      Mr. Davis was an employee of The Sentinel the past two years and a former employee of the Culver Citizen Publishing company 36 years. He was a member of the Burr Oak Church of God.

      Surviving with the wife are two sons, Edward D. DAVIS, South Bend, and Larry E. DAVIS, Culver; two brothers, Norman C. DAVIS, Argos, and Emery A. DAVIS, Culver, and three grandchildren.
