Virginia Lee Thomas, age 91, went home to be with her Savior on September 5, 2026.
She was born on August 11, 1935, to Omer and Geneva (Fletcher) Hook in Logansport, Indiana.
She was the third child born to her parents, raised in Kewanna until her family moved to
Culver, Indiana when she was the 5 th grade.
Her employment included work at The State Exchange Bank, Culver Academies, 3M, and
Thomas Real Estate, but her favorite employment was being a mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother.
During Jerry and Virginia’s 60 plus years of marriage, she enjoyed sharing life most
with her family. Because of her active Christian faith, she served as a children’s
Sunday school teacher, and committee member of local, district, and annual conference
committees.
She participated in an Operation Classroom mission trip to Liberia and spent a few weeks
of many summers traveling to Oklahoma for mission work with Native American churches.
Since the late 1970s, Virginia enjoyed quilting and she made professional level quilts
and embroidery projects. She participated in many quilting groups such as the Maxinkuckee
Quilters (Culver) and Heritage Cove Quilters (Florida). She shared her love of quilting
with her family, giving each grandchild a baby quilt, graduation quilt, and gave many of
her great-grandchildren baby quilts as well. She even inspired her husband to quilt. Some
of these quilting projects, including banners, have been used in churches during Christmas
and Easter seasons. The family appreciates the love she put into each stitch.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Omer and Geneva Hook; her older Eleanor Grabenbauer,
and her younger brother John Hook.
Virgina is survived by her husband Gerald, sister Marilyn McLane, daughters Diane Hansen
Miller (Ron), Susan Pisciotti, Gwendolyn Thomas Adams (Bill), and Krista Thomas Kasper (Kevin),
grandchildren Stephen Morin (Miranda), David Morin, Michael Morin (Momiji), Laura Pisciotti
(Jacob Warthen), Megan Adams Haines (Jason), Joe Pisciotti (Haley), William Adams (Alejandra),
Katherine Hansen (Rebecca Sanchez), Caleb Kasper, Emma Kasper, and 10 precious
great-grandchildren.
A service for family and friends at the gravesite will take place on September 9, 2026, at the
Culver Masonic Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
