PROMINENT CITIZEN OF GREENWOOD DIES
Heart Trouble Fatal to Josiah B. Dill, Aged 77
GREENWOOD, Feb. 1.-- B. Dill, 77 years of age, of the best known citizens Greenwood, died at
his home West Main street, Tuesday morning 2:15 o'clock, of heart trouble, having been confined
to his bed month. He stroke a suffered a paralysis about a year ago, had been in failing health
then.
The deceased was born 1849 and is survived by his widow, one daughter, Miss Bess Dill, of Greenwood,
and one son, Jay Dill, of Detroit, Mich.
Mr. Dill president of the Indiana Fan Company, of Indianapolis, but had lived in Greenwood for twenty-five
years.
Funeral arrangements have not been made pending the arrival of Jay Dill, the son. - Franklin Evening Star

Josiah B. Dill was a druggist and, briefly, secretary and treasurer of the Duthie and Daggett Tool
Company
In 1895 Thomas Bemis, Josiah B Dill, S.M. Dyer, and F.F. McCiea established the Specialty Manufacturing
Company on Meridian Street. The company made patterns for various new parts and equipment, manufactured
machinery, fans (belt driven, electric and water powered), and manufactured bicycles for a period around
the turn of the century.
Between 1900 and 1902 Dill assumed the presidency of Specialty Manufacturing, and Bemis went on to own and
operate his own company.
