ROY E. NICODEMUS, 76, of Wawaka, Ind., and Bradenton, Fla., died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at University Park Nursing Center Fort Wayne.

He was born April 18, 1930 in South Bend, the son of the late, Nile and Lena (Lesley) Nicodemus.

He married Mildred E. (Connon) Nicodemus on Sept. 23, 1950 in Mishawaka.

He retired in 1990, as service supervisor from Nipsco after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Plymouth Masonic Lodge F.&.A.M.; Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, former member of Wabash Kiwanis Club, Culver Jaycees, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Wabash.

He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a member of Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church.

He also loved fishing and golf.

"Roy was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, family and his church and he will be greatly missed by all."

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mildred E. (Connon) Nicodemus; daughters, Nancy (Gordon)

Lewis of Leo and Sandra (Jeffry) Zolnosky of Fort Wayne; son, Robert (Sally) Nicodemus of Columbus, Ind.; grandchildren, Kara, Collin, Evan, and Aaron Lewis, Andrew and Christian Nicodemus, Ashley Eads, Mary, Marc, and Hal Jennings; sisters, Dorothy Buytas of Plant City, Fla., Janette (Jack) Armey of Bradenton, Fla., and Doloris Lewis of Gooding, Idaho; brother, Ted (Wilma) Nicodemus Raub of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother-in-law, Rev. Arthur Mahler of PawPaw, Mich.

He was preceded in death by sister, Louise Mahler, in March 2006.

Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, 10145 Maysville Rd., with calling one hour prior.

Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons, Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd., Fort Wayne.

Burial in Bowers Cemetery Fort Wayne.

Mildred E. "Millie" Nicodemus, 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, at Byron Health Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on December 2, 1928, in Mishawaka, IN, to Ellen and Kenneth Connon.

Her parents, originally from Mishawaka, were living in Chicago, and her mother temporarily returned to Mishawaka to give birth to Millie. They lived in Chicago until Millie was nine years old, at which time they moved back to Mishawaka permanently.

Millie graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1946 and spent many years working as a secretary in various locations.

She met her beloved husband, Roy Nicodemus, at a square dance in Mishawaka, and they later married on September 23, 1950 in Mishawaka.

Due to Roy's various positions while employed with Northern Indiana Public Service Company, they moved from Mishawaka to Culver, IN, in 1960, followed by transfers to Plymouth, LaPorte, Wabash, and Fort Wayne. During those years they raised two daughters, Nancy and Sandy, and a son, Robby.

After retirement, Millie and Roy became "snow birds" and spent their winters in Bradenton, Florida. Their summers were spent at their Indiana cottage on Steinbarger Lake, where many beautiful memories were made with their family and friends.

During her years in Florida, Millie discovered a love for morning water aerobics and line dancing, and she seldom missed her classes. After Roy's death in May of 2006, Millie continued to spend her winters in Florida until she was no longer able to live alone due to physical limitations from a fall. She then moved to Leo, IN, to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Millie was an avid reader her whole life and spent many relaxing hours reading her Bible and multitudes of novels. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and knitting mittens and dishcloths, giving them away as fast she could knit them. Millie also loved to dance, and she and Roy were quite impressive on the dance floor, especially when they had the opportunity to jitterbug or polka!

Millie was a proud grandmother, and some of her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of Taylor Chapel Ministries.

She touched the lives of many people with her beautiful smile and compassionate heart, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Gordie) Lewis of Leo, a son, Robert (Sally) Nicodemus of Columbus, IN, a sister, Mary Schultz of Ontario, Canada, nine grandchildren; Drew and Chris Nicodemus, Ashley Jennings, Kara Snoke, Collin, Evan, Aaron and Marc Lewis, Mary Jennings, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, a daughter, Sandra Hyatte, a grandson, Hal Jennings, a sister, Margie VanGilder, and a brother, Kenneth Connon.

A service will be held on Saturday, May 29 at noon at Taylor Chapel Ministries, 10145 Maysville Road, Fort Wayne, IN.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, and a short graveside service will follow at Bowers Cemetery, one mile from the church. A meal will then be served at the church.

Memorials may be made to either Taylor Chapel Ministries or Byron Health Center to be donated to the employee emergency fund.
