1923 - Jun 1923 - BUILDING SUB-STATION

New Equipment Will Assure Culver Of More Continuous Service. The Plymouth Electric Light & Power Company are installing a new complete Delta-Star Electric SubStation on its lot at corner of Plymouth and Jefferson Streets.

The tower is of galvanized steel, and will be over four hundred feet high when completed. Switches will be placed on this structure, to be used in case of line, trouble etc., to disconnect lines and circuits feeding Culver and other towns beyond, so as to assure the system of more continuous service.

New transformers will be installed with lightning arrestors, switches and fuses on the tower to take care of the increasing demand for Electric Service at Culver.

When this Sub-Station is completed Culver will have one of the best Electrical SubStations that can be obtained.

Note: this would explain the large cement footprint that was there for years. 1929 - Jan 30 - Light Company Clears Sub-Station from Lot

Workmen were busy Monday clearing away the old sub-station belinging t0 the Northern Indiana Publice Service Company which was on the back lot ofthe lot at the corner of Plymouth and Jefferson streets.

This station has not been in use since last October, the electricity now stopped down to the proper voltage at the new station at the Behmer corner.

The company still owns the lot but has not announced the future of the location.

NIPSCO Parking Lot

As a courtesy to shoppers in Culver the town board has provided a free parking space on the lot owned by the Northern Indiana Public Service Company.

This lot is conveniently located oone-half block east of Main Street on Jefferson Street and will be we ll lighted of night

This moveo has been taken to relieve the congestion on Main Street and will be a boon to those trading in Culver.

State Exchange Parking lot for community - 1945 - ?

1945 - Sep. 12 - A public parking lot is being planned by The State Exchange Bank at the corner of Jefferson and Plymouth Streets.

Gates & Calhoun's Used car Lot 1963 -?

1945 - Sep 20 - A public parking lot, a long needed improvement, is being planned by The State Exchange Bank, which has purchased the lot at the corner of Jefferson and Plymouth streets. The lot has been owned by the North ern Indiana Public Service Company for a number of year. Bank officials will level the ground and hard surface with an oil mat as soon as the material can be secured. Convenient driveways will be built and lines will be painted so that parking will be orderly and convenient. Parking in the business area has been a problem for a number of years and this convenient location will make it easy for motorists to do business in Culver. The bank will make no charge for the use of the parking lot and it is planning the improvement as a service to the public.
