1955 - June 1 - Dr. John D. Tharp Is New Culver Physician
Takes Over Dr. Reese's Practice Recently Sold To Three Knox Doctors
Dr. John Daniel Tharp of Chi-cago has purchased the medical practice formerly owned by Dr.
Lawrence W. Reese, who left April 6 to report for active duty as a Captain in the Medical
Corps of the U. S. Army at Fort Sam Houston. San Antonio. Texas.
Dr. Reese first sold his practice to Doctors Howard J. Henry, Clark McClure, and Thomas H.
Nichols of Knox who maintained the office on Lake Shore Drive for the past several weeks.
Apparently the Knox doctors found the distance too great for convenience.
Dr. Tharp received his doctor of medicine degree at Indiana University in 1952. He interned at
Norfolk, Va. and for the past two years has been in U. S. Public Health Service stationed at
the Marine Hospital in Chicago where he received further training in surgery and internal
medicine.
Dr. Tharp is married and has a son. Stephen, who is two and one half years old.
Both Dr. and Mrs. Tharp are Hoosiers he was reared at Trafalgar and Mrs. Tharp's former home is
Columbia City. They have been attending the Presbyterian Church.
Dr. and Mrs. Tharp and son plan to move to Culver as soon as a home is available.
He will start practicing here July 1.

1956 - Jul 25 - Leaving Culver
Dr. John D. Thrap who came to Culver from Chicago in July, 1955, to practice
medicine at 114 Lakeshore Dr. is closing his office here on August 1 in order
to join a group of five physicians and surgeons at Kenia, Ohio. Xenia has a
population of nearly 13,000.
Culver is saying farewell to Dr. and Mrs. Tharp with genuine regret and wishes
this fine couple and their young son Stephn the best of everything in the new
Ohio home. Both Dr. and Mrs. Tharp are Hoosiers - he was reared at Trafalgar and
Mrs. Tharp's former home is Columbia City.
Dr. Tharp recieved his doctor of medicine degree at Indiana University in 1952.

U.S. Public Health Service at the Marine Hospital in Chicago where he recieved
further training in surgery and internal medicine.
Dr. Tharp's medical records and charts are being transferred to Dr. Ernest B. Norris
who on August 15 will establish an office here at 2805 East Shore Drive. Dr. Norris
comes to Culver from Middlebury, Ind.
