Transfer of the ownership of a Culver business firm was effected last Friday, Sept. 5, when Fred Strefling became the new owner of the local Chevrolet Agency. He purchased the business from E. Thoner, who has operated the firm since November, 1950...

Since coming to Culver Mr. Thoner has been active in many community activities. He held membership in the Culver-Union Township Chamber of Commerce and the Culver Lions Club. When asked about his future plans he pointed out that he and Mrs. Thoner will leave Saturday for an extended visit with their daughter at Coronado, Calif. They have stored their household goods in South Bend.

Einar Thoner, 92, of Ridgedale Nursing Home, died at 6 p.m. Friday in the nursing home.

He had been active in automobile sales promotion work in the area for many vears. He was bom on Feb 2, 1886, in Norway, and came to South Bend from Flint, Mich., in 1941.

On Dec. 20, 1910, in Chicago, he married Hertha Wiedenhoeft, who survives.

Also einar thoner surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Anna Higgins of Bloomington, Mrs. Helen Pugin of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Evelyn McMurray of Nappa-nee; two sons, Robert E. of South Bend and William H. of Churchville, Md.; 18 grandchildren, and 11 greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a m. Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, with Rev. Charles Felton, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William.

The faamily moved to Flint, Genesee County, Michigan in 1927 and then to South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana , in 1941.

In 1950 came to Culver from Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana where he was manager of the Mishawaka store of L. O. Gates Chevrolet for nearly eight years.
