Fletcher T. Strang
We have with us today...
It is quite appropriate to have with us today Mr. Strang, who has received word of his re-appointment
as postmaster here.
He has just completed his first term of four years and is in the advantaged position of holding the office
at the time the new civil service bill for postmasters goes into effect.
Mr. Strang was born on a farm near Teengarden, Ind., and came to Culver in September, 1912.
After working at the Academy for five and a half years he purchased a barber shop opposite of the
depot, and later operated it in conjunction with a shop in the main business section.
After a short time he formed a partnership with his brother, the late Sam Strang, and closed the other two
businesses. He continued this partnership until his appointment as postmaster four years ago.
Fletcher has contributed his share in serving the community, having served four years as a
member of the town board, four years on the township advisory board, and two years on the
Culver-Union Council of Churches
