Larry R. Lowry November 20, 1934 - March 17, 2016 Larry (Peanuts) R. Lowry, 81, of Culver passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend surrounded by h family. He was the world to his wife, a hero to his children, and a legend in the Culver Community. Larry was born November 20, 1934, to Raymond and Lotus (Grace) Lowry. He graduated from Culver High School in 1952. Larry served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He married his beloved wife Sherry Croy in 1964. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 40 years and later retired from the Culver Academy after 18 years of service. Larry loved sports. He was very involved in the Culver Little League program and was a father figure to all involved in Culver youth sports. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports, his son coach, and his grandchildren begin their athletic careers. Larry was an avid White Sox fan. It was a Lowry family tradition to follow the Sox, which he passed down to his kids and grandkids. Larry enjoyed the outdoors, especially riding his Farmall tractor and John Deere mower. Lowry’s Lawn Service was a small business yet a big part of his life. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Lotus Lowry. He is survived by two sisters; Miriam (Vern) McKee and Janet (Rich) Overmyer; his loving wife Sherry (Croy) Lowry; six children and their families; Son Randall Lowry, his wife Melva, and daughters Olivia and Claire; Son Ronald Lowry; Daughter Darci Posthuma, her husband Tim, and daughters Britni (Carson) and Kelsi; Son Daniel Lowry, his fiancé Kathie, and daughters Amelia and Delaney; Son Shane Lowry, his wife Bridget, and children Payton and Sarah; Daughter Shawna Grund, her husband David, and daughters Mallori and Maci. Larry also leaves behind his best canine friend Indiana “Buckwheat” Lowry. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Odom Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 3-7 p. m. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Larry’s name to the Culver Community Athletic Department.
