E. Wayne Mattox  



Our new postsmaster, E. Wayne Mattox, came up through the ranks and has mastered every phase of his exacting position. He was born near Culver and is the sone of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad C. Mattox, longtime residents. After his graduation from the Culver High School in 1937, Wayne started his postal career in 1938 as a substitute carrier. He rapidly adavaced through the posts of special deliver messenger and parcel post carrier and for the past 12 years has served as clerk.


Postmaster-Designate Mattox is married to the former Sue Fletcher of Gary. The have three fine sons in their home at 448 South Shore Drive: FLetcher 7; Tony, 6: and Tommy 2. The Mattoxes are members of the Grace Evangelical and Reformed Church where he is a deacon and superintendent of the Junior department. He is fervently interested in high school sports and until his increased postal duties prevented, he served as basketball reporter for the Culver Citizen. IN addition to his other hobbies of hunting and fishing, Mr. Mattox is interested in all civic affairs including participation in the Lake Maxinkuckee Association, Inc.
