Arthur Heed Dies Suddenly Today On Motor Trip 
 
Fatal Attack In Chlllicothe, Mo. 
The entire Culver community was deeply shocked today to learn that one of our  best known  
citizens, Charles Arthur Reed, age G2, died suddenly this morning at Chillicothe, Mo., 
presumably of a heart attack. 
Mr. Reed, better known as Art to his countless friends, and Mrs. Reed were en route to their 
Culver home after having visited, their son, Keith, in Denver, Colo.
were  Visiting Former Residents 
The Reeds had stopped over in Chillicothe for a brief visit with, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Long, 
former Culver residents. 
Mr. Reed had been employed as the faithful custodian of the Culver post office since 1935.
He had a genial personality, was a photographer of professional stat us, was an ardent 
Republican, and enjoyed singing in the choif-of the Culver Methodist Church for many years. 
Art was a veteran of World. War I and took pride in his membership in American Legion Post 103 
Born In China 
The son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Edgar Reed, he was born in China on March 27, 1S99, where his 
father was a medical missionary.
The family returned to the United States in 1900 and lived in Michigan and North Carolina before
coming to Culver in 1911, where Dr. Reed iwas physician at Culver Military Academy until 192S. 
 
Surviving with his wife Ilah, are a daughter, Mrs. Winifred Joice, Argos; three sons, Dr..
Edgar Reed, Cleveland, Ohio,  Dr. Donald W. Reed , Culver, and Keith Reed, Denver. Colo.; two 
brothers,
 Dr. Donald Reed, Culver, 
and John A. Reed, Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Miss Dorothy  Reed, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Misa Emily 
Reed,  Washington, D. C; and six grandchildren. 
The body is being returned to the Easterday Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete
