Dr. Donald Reed quits practice to speailize
Dr. Donald W. Reed well known local physician with offices located at the Reed Medical Center,
121 College Ave., announces that he will terminate his Culver practice of medicine with the
close of office hours on Tuesday, March 23.
Dr. Reed, who resides at 304 Slate Street, is the son of Mrs. Arthur Reed and the late Mr. Reed,
graduated from Culver High School in 1945, and saw three years of service in the U.S. Navy.
He received his M.D. degree from Indiana University School of Medicine at Indianapolis in June,
1 960, and reiturned to Culver in April, 1961, to look after the extensive medical practice of
his uncle, Dr. Donald Reed, while the latter underwent surgery at Robert Long Hospital.
Following the senior
Doctor Reed's death in July 1961,
Dr. Donald W. Reed took over his uncle's practice on a permanent basis on Aug. 1 of that year.
Doctor Reed will leave April 1 for San Diego, Calif., where he will take three months of further
training. After that time he will return to Indianapolis where he will begin a three-year
residency in specialization.
Doctor Reed also states that he w i l l be happy to help his patients in transferring medical
records, etc., to another physician of their choice. Records left, in his file after the March
23 deadline will be left in the possession of Mrs. Hugh L. (Opal) Grove, Route 3,
Plymouth, (phone 936-6948 ). Patients may contact her for disposition of these records.

GREENFIELD, Ind. — Dr. Donald Waite Reed, 84, of Greenfield, passed away on March 24, 2012, at
the Indiana Heart Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1927, in South Bend, the son of
Charles and Ilah (Mahoney) Reed.
Donald graduated from high school in Culver, Ind., and attended Indiana University in Bloomington. He
then attended IU Medical School and finished his medical residency at Ohio State University.
He married Nancy “Susie” Howard in 1965 in Plymouth, Ind. Dr. Reed worked as a general practitioner
in Culver, Ind., for six years then went on to work at Saint John’s Medical Center as a neurologist.
Overall, he worked in the field of medicine for 50 years. His hobbies were practicing medicine and
spending time with his family.
Surviving him are his wife, Nancy “Susie” Reed of Greenfield; sons, Richard (Tina) Reed of
Indianapolis, Robert (Deanna) Reed of Greenfield, Mark (Angie) Reed of Greenfield Bryan (Angie) Reed
of Indianapolis, and William (Lynn) Reed of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brandon, Kirsten, Abagil,
Madalyn, Darin, Emily, and Adam; brother, Edgar Reed of Louisiana; sister, Winifred Joice of Culver,
Ind.; and a nephew, Reed Joice.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Keith Reed.
Private services will take place at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.
