    Homer L Rogers Dies Suddenly at Home

    Homer L. Rogers, East Side cottager died at his farm home in Green township early Thrusday morning, Dec. 17

    He had been ill since the latter part of July with a blood clot in one leg. Treatment had relieved his suffering and he had been able to be more active in recent weeks.

    He was apparently in usual condition before he was stricken by heart failure during the night.

    Mr. Rogers was 57 years of age last Sept 30.

    A native of Knox he began teaching school when he was 19 years of age. In 1908, shortly after he became principal of the Monterey schools, her was elected Pulaski county superintendent of schools. Serving in that office for eight and one-half years, he became widely known for his efforts in boys' club work and numerous other activities

    upon leaving public office he became interested in life insurance and gradually advanced from l local agent to state manager for the Eqquitable Life Assurance company, with headquarters in Indianapolis.

    During that advancement he served as district agent for the company at Lafayette and South Bend. A year ago he was elected trustee of the National Association of Lifr Underwriters.

    Looking forward to retirement in three years, he purchased a large farm in Green township. He and Mrs. Rogers moved from their Indianapolis apartment a few weeks ago to one of the houses on the farm

    Mr. Rogers owned a cottage at Maxinkuckee Landing and was well known in this community

    Surviving, besides the widiow Grace Leighton Rogers, is one daughter, Mrs. Dean Berry of Anderson; a brother Rolla Rogers of Knox; two sisters Mrs. Bertha Horner of Chicago and Myrs Mattie Dunfee of Knox.; one half brother Ed Luke of Bass Lake and other relatives

    Funeral services were held Saturday in Argos, Rev. Ernest Trber of the Argos Christain church officiating

    Interment was in the Knox cemetery.
