Polonack, John J. "Oscar", age 58 years of Calumet City passed away Saturday, January 20.,
1990 at Community Hospital, Munster.
Survivors: wife Dorothy (nee DInnes) Polonack of Calumet City; two daughters Denise (Lou)
Caprio of Crete, Il. and Cerise (Jeff) Groch of Lisle, Illinois and four grandchildren
Nicki and Christopher Caprio and Jason and Jacob Groch; one sister, Marge (Stanley) Jankowski;
monther-in-law Nancy DInes; twp brothers-in-law Art (Ellen) and Jack (Dorothy) Dines; one
sister-in-law, Bette (Dominick) Palermo; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; dear friend
Joey Kerias.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Tillie Poloncak; and his father-in-law, Elmo Dines.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 24 with 9 a.m. prayers from the Nowak Fuernal
Home, 400 Pulaski ROad (154th St.) Calumet City to St. Victor Church, Mass 9:30 a.m.
Interment, 1 p.m. at Culver Cemetery, Culver Indiana.
Visitation Tuesday 2 to 9 p.m.
Mr. Polnack was an Air Force veteran; a life time member of Calumet Memorial Post #330 A.L. whose
;members will conduct Post Everlasting Rites Tuesday 8 p.m.; and I.B.E.E. Local %697 Hammond,
Indiana.
Mr. Poloncak holds the recod as being the youngest qualifier, at age 13, in the Hammond Times Golf

Dorothy Faye Poloncak, 88, passed away on Monday June 1, 2020 at the William J. Riley Residence in
Munster, Indiana, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Hammond, Indiana on February 24, 1932, Dorothy was the daughter of Elmo and Nancy (Geren) Dines.
She graduated from Thorton Fractional High School in Calumet City, Illinois.
On July 7, Dorothy married John Poloncak in Calumet City, and there they would welcome and raise their
daughters Denise and Cerise. She was a loving caregiver to family and friends.
In the late 1970s, the couple bought a summer home on Lake Maxinkuckee. They made many memories and shared
many laughs as a growing family. John would pass on January 20, 1989.
It was then that Dorothy officially moved to Culver. She became a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic
Church in Culver, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Culver.
Dorothy also enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, setting out corn for the deer and feeding the cats of the
neighborhood.
She is survived by her daughter, Cerise Groch of Culver; grandchildren, Jason (Stefanie) Groch of Lisle, IL,
Jacob Groch of Lombard, IL, Nicole Caprio and Christopher Caprio, both of St. John, IN; and great-granddaughter,
Guiliana Groch.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her daughter, Denise Caprio; and siblings:
Arthur “Bud” Dines, Jack Dines and Bette Palermo.
Family burial will take place on Friday, June 5, 2020 in the Culver Masonic Cemetery, Culver, with Fr. Bill
Neininger officiating.
