Perry Holliday O'Neal  

Perry Holliday O'Neal, 86, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at his home in Delray Beach, Florida surrounded by loved ones. He was born, February 4, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lucy Holliday O'Neal and Perry Earnest O'Neal.

Perry graduated from Orchard School in 1943 and St. George's School in Newport, Rhode Island in 1948. Graduating from Yale in 1952, Perry received his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia Law School in 1957.

After serving in the United States Army for two years, Perry began his banking career in at Indiana National Bank, (now CHASE), in Indianapolis. He served as Executive Vice President and Trust Officer from 1957-1980.

Perry and his family spent their summers on Lake Maxinkuckee, where Perry's passion for tennis and sailing grew. He won numerous racing regatta's and was an active member of the Maxinkuckee Yacht Club and Maxinkuckee Country Club. A perfect day would start with the Culver Academy cannons echoing across the water and the sounds of the Peru train whistling through town. Then a competitive sail, an afternoon of tennis, an Academy parade, a sunset boat ride and a dinner table full of family and friends made for everlasting memories. Perry was an active participant in life.

In Indianapolis he served as President of the University Club and the Dramatic Club. He was a charter member of Crooked Stick Golf Club and principal founder of the Indianapolis Racquet Club. He was also a past member of the Woodstock Club and donor at the I ndianapolis Museum of Art.

In 1980, Perry took early retirement and moved to Delray Beach, Florida.

A believer in community involvement, he served on the Gulfstream Architectural Review Board for twelve years, served as President of Gulfstream Civic Association and the Gulfstream Homeowner's Improvement Association. He was also a past member of the Little Club and active member the Bath and Tennis Club.

Perry was dedicated to helping those with addictions. He became involved with the Wayside House and served as their President of the Board.

A mentor to many, he is survived by his sister: Alice O'Neal Dye (Pete), nephews: Perry O'Neal Dye (Ann); Paul Burke Dye (Jean), grandnieces: Lucy Dye Bowman (Eric), Lilly Dye Harmon (Ross), great nephew and niece: Brooks and Margaret Harmon.

Also dear to him were: George Jonson, Mary Lloyd, Beth Ann Clark, Spencer Clark and Diane Darsch.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 21, at 2:00PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 188 S. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida.
