Chester “Chet” L. Evers Jr., age 92, of Saint John, IN, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 29, 2022.

Beloved husband for 67 years of the late Myra Evers nee Wassink.

Loving father of Chet “Jim” (Paula) Evers III, Alan (Teri) Evers, Patti (Jim) Jabaay, and Nancy (Doug) Evenhouse. Proud grandfather of 31 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Dearest brother of Jim Evers, Phyllis Persenaire, Sharon Vander Woude, Laurel Douma, and the late Donald Evers, Richard Evers, and Arlene Hoekstra.

Preceded in death by his parents Chester and Henrietta Evers (nee Westerveld).

Kind uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Chet loved the Lord and served in many capacities at Faith Church, The Bible League, Trinity Christian College, and other Christian organizations.

He was a respected businessman and owner of Evers Office Supply.

Chet served his country as a United States Air Force Veteran.

Visitation Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Church, 100 W. 81 st Ave. Dyer, IN with Rev. Bob Bouwer officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL with Pastor Doug Evenhouse officiating.

Beloved wife for 67 years of Chester Evers Jr.

Loving mother of Chester (Paula) Evers III, Alan (Teri) Evers, Patti (Jim) Jabaay, and Nancy (Doug) Evenhouse. Proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Dearest sister of Helen, Alvin and the late Ruth. Kind aunt of several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents George and Jennie Wassink.

Visitation Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN.

Private family burial service will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL with Rev. Doug Evenhouse officiating.

Memorial service Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Church, 100 W. 81 st Ave. Dyer, IN with Rev. Bob Bouwer officiating.
