1959 - Sept. 2 Mrs. Albert Howel Is Still East SHore's "HOstess With the Mostest"

After her fabulous cocktail and buffett dinner party of last Saturday evenign some 40 couples will again attest the fact that Mrs. Albert S. Howell of 1614 East SHire Drive now has succeeded Pearl Mesta as "the hostess withthe mostest!"

After a perfect culinary treat, prepared by The Culver Inn's chef, dancin and musical entertainement was enjoyed until a later hour. A. N. (Polly) Butler and Robert R (Robbie) Robinson charmed the piano keys and Nora Howell, a Broadway star of yesteryear, led her guests in singing old musical comedy favorites. It was indeed an evening to be remembered

Aunt Nora's quests included her nephew and nieces: Mr. and Mrs Norman C. Michels, Birmingham, Ala; Mr. and Mrs Melvin E. Thomas, Wauconda, Ill; and Mr. and Mrs Robert Roback, Chicago.

Final Rites Held Monday For Nora S Howard

Mrs. Nora S. Howell, 71, well know Culver resident, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Sept 21, in her home at 1614 East Shore Drive. She had been in ill health for two years.

Mrs Howell was born Jan. 20 1892, in Marshall, Mich., the daughter of Norman B. and Grace L. Whitney, and was married in 1929 to Albert Summers Howell, executive of the Bell-Howell Camera company, who died in 1951.

She had been a Culver resident since 1930.

Surviviors include two nieces Mrs. Dorothy Tomas of Wauconda, Ill., and Mrs. Patricia Roback of Chiago, Illinois and a nephew, Norman Michels, Sewickley, Pa. A sister, Mrs. Dorthey Michels preceded her in death.


Services were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept 23 in St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Plymouth with the Rev. William C. R. Sherida, pastor officiating.

Interment was made in the Roe Hill cemetery in Chicago.
