25 Sep. 1981 - Former Farmers & Merchants State Bank President Malcolm Raub has passed away at 72.

    Malcolm J. Raub. 72. retired president and chairman of the board of the Farmers and Merchants Stale Bank, died at 9:30 p. m. Wednesday at his home, 301 Davis Road.

    Ill since February, he had retired June 9 after nearly 26 years as head of the local bank. He had assumed the presidency on Nov. 15. 1955. six years after the death of his father, the late George Raub, who had served as president of the bank 30 years, from 1919 to 1949.

    Malcolm had served as the banks bookkeeper. teller, assistant cashier, cashier and vice president before taking over the top position following the death of A W. Strantz.

    He was born May 23, 1909. in Logansport to George A. and Lucy Ream Raub He was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church and the Elks and Eagles lodges.

    Surviving are the wife, the former Albertine J. Jenkines; a son, M. J. ( P a t) Raub Jr.. County Road 600 North; two daughters, Kathleen Raub. Atlanta. Ga.. and Ann Snyder. Logansport.

    The body is at the Kroeger Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Earl Davidson, pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church, officiating, interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

    Friends may call at the luncra! home from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p. m. Friday

    Kathleen Raub, 56, Westport, Mass., formerly of Logansport, died at 9:50 a.m.Tuesday in the residence of her sister, Logansport.

    Arrangements are pending at KroegerFuneral Home.

    Private family memorial services will be held at a later date for Kathleen Raub, 56, Westport, Mass., formerly of Logansport and Atlanta.

    She died at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in the residence of her sister, Ann Snyder, Logansport

    Born OcL 30, 1946, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Malcolm J. Sr. and Albertine Jenkines Raub. Her mother survives, residing in Logansport

    A 1964 graduate of Logansport High School, Kathy graduated in 1966 from G ulf Park College, G ulfport, Miss. She also attended the University of Georgia, Athens, Ga.

    Kathy was a flight attendant for 33 years with Delta Airlines, joining the airline in 1968. She was based in Atlanta, Ga., where she resided for 20 years.

    In 1988, she moved to Westport and retired from Delta Airlines in 2001.

    Kathy enjoyed working out, playing golf and biking. She enjoyed her home and working in the garden. She reluctantly admitted to being a gourmet cook.

    A professional photographer, her work will continue to be enjoyed by friends, colleagues and countless others whose lives were touched through her photographs.

    Kathy lost a long and valiant struggle against breast and brain cancer, surrounded by the love of her partner, family and friends. Her acceptance, honesty, grace and humor in facing her life's final journey has set a higher standard for all who knew her.

    Also surviving are her partner of 18 years, June Hollis, Westport; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Don Snyder, Logansport; one brother, Malcolm "Pat" Raub, Culver ; one aunt, Barbara Young, Logansport; nieces and nephews, Kathleen and Duke Tanguy, Logansport, Dr. David and Heather Snyder, Nashville, Tenn., Raubyn and Reed Barich, Noblesville, Elizabeth Benish, Lafayette, and Brian Raub, Atlanta, Ga.; and several great-nieces and nephews.

    There will be no visitation.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Humane Society and the Cass County Carousel Association! Kroeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.




CLARKSV1LLE, Tenn. — Dr. David Snyder, son of Ann and David: Snyder, of Logansport, and grandson of Albertine Raub and Martha and Don Snyder, all of Logansport, was appointed assistant professor of history after serving as a visiting assistant professor of history at Austin Peay State University in 2002-03.

Graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA, he earned his doctorate in modern European history from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May, 2002. Both his master's and bachelor's degrees are from Indiana University.

Snyder, who has authored several scholarly articles for professionalpublications has received myriad academic fellowships since 1998 including a fellowship at The Summer Institute on the Holocaust and Jewish Civilization, Northwestern University and The Franklin and Orinda Johnson Fellowship, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. for World War II History Fellowship from August through September 2003.

Snyder is a 1983 graduate of Logansport High School.
