1930 - Jun 18 - Mr. and Mrs. Josia Belden of St. Louis Mo. have opened their cottage for the summer...

1932 - Aug 10 - ... who is house guest of her aunt Mrs. J. H. Bledon, 344 East Shore Drive.

1932 - October 5 - Belden cottage on East Side of lake destroyed by fire with loss of $7, 000.

    The J. H. Belden cottage on the east side of Lake Maxinkuckee was destroyed by fire Thursday night.

    The cause of the fire was believed to be faulty wiring or a faulty flue, and damage was estimated at between $6000 and $8000.

    Furnishings from the kitchen and back porch were the only things saved. Mr. Belden lives in St. Louis, Mo.


Cottage was rebuilt.

    S. J. Rossa, Realtor, Sells Belden Lake Home to Irving Bergman

    S. J. Rossa, aggressive East Shore Realtor, last week announced that he had sold the lake summer residence of Mrs. Mary C. Beldin, of Indianapolis, to Irving Bergman, Gary Businessman

    The valuable property is located at 1630 East Shore Drive between the residences of Col Mrs. Walker W. Winslow and Mrs. Nora Howell.

    The Citizen, backed up by Noah Webster, does not refer to such summer homes as cottages as is somewhat the general custon in this locality

    The Bergmans have been renting East Shore Homes in recent summers. THey hava a daughter and a son, Scott, who is a cadet at Culver Military Academy


1957, Feb -6 - Irving Bergman

On March 9th, 1957 the Bergman's held an auction of household goods and personal property at their home "The Belden Cottage"
    The biggest crowd to congregate on East Shore Drive since a pink elephant was spotted on the golf course of the Lake Maxinkuckee Country CLub in 1932 turned out Saturday for the public sale of household goods auctioned off for Mr. and Mrs. Irbing Bergman at the lkae residence they recently purchased from Mrs. J. H. Belden. Cars practicall blocked State ROad 118 for nearly a mile each way as eager matrions bed against each other for qntiques etc. Quite a site indeed. - 13 Mar 1957
