architectural design was it rebuilt, redesigned or just added to and refaced with limestone and the 3 car garage added to be attached to the house? which housed the auxillary power house in case of electical failure?

W. O. had the house built in 1949 (sic) - the re-facing, in Bedford stone, of the Osborn House at 1680 East Shore Lane, in 1949. The story that one heard David Burns tell was that he laid the limestone for the cottage and property and when Billy came home found him not there supposing sloughing off he would go on the hunt of him and bring him back to work for the day or evening.

I am very priveleges to own the watercolor painting done of the Osborn home dated 1990 by Esther Powers Miller

She always included a authenticty slip with each paimting and even the limited produced prints.

1979-80 - William O. Osborn & Arden Butler

1981-1984 - Arden and Frances E. (Osborn) Butler

1994-July 1986 - Frances E. (Osborn) Butler

July 1986 - Mar 1993 - Thomas Gene Spiece
Tom had the maghoney facing and mantle of the fireplace removed and replaced with a stone facing and mantle done by David Burns; David contributed some of the Indian tomahawk heads he had collected over the years to it; other stones Tom brought back from the middle east over seas - the rest well they were just common ordinary Indiana rock from surrounding fields David went scavenging for when he done a job. Also Tom wanted the motar to be black - that was hard on clothing and hard to get out. I took David's daughter Nancy C. (Burns) Jimenez along with me to south Bend to Old For Supply to to pick up some fire brick and other items for the job - she could not believe I was hauling it in the 1979 Oldsmobile station wagon - needless to say it dragged bottom all the way home from South Bend and I had put the back seat down and re-arranged the brick so that they were single layer fromthe front seat back - as the man at Old Fort wanted to put them all on the very back half/cargo area only. What one would not do to save money and in the name of a job around the lake!

He had cottages on the East Shore back in the 1980's and 1990's; first here and then at: at 1614 E Shore and since 2009 has had another at 986 West Shore
