Francis Joseph "Frank" Maher Jr.

Frank J. Maher Jr is the retired founder of Maher, Brannigan & Heywood, P.C. Mr. Maher retired in 2012 after 41 years of service in the legal profession. Frank graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep in 1958 and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Xavier University in 1962. Mr. Maher received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law in 1971. Mr. Maher was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1968 after 6 years of service to his Country. Mr. Maher served the Villages of Homewood-Flossmoor as a Park District Commissioner from 1981-1989. In 1989 he was elected as Mayor of Flossmoor and served until 1994. Mr. Maher also served as a Police and Fire Commissioner in Flossmoor from 1995-2001. Frank presently resides in University Park, Florida and is enjoying his retirement with wife Elizabeth to whom he has been married to since 1969. They have had 5 children and 6 grandchildren.

June 8, 1994 Kevin Maher, 18, the son of Flossmoor Mayor Frank J. Maher Jr., died Tuesday from head and internal injuries he sustained in a three-car collision on May 22 near St. John, Ind. A junior at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, he was returning from a post-prom trip with three other students when the accident occurred. Besides his father, he is survived by his mother, Elizabeth; two sisters; and a brother. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday in John Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 7020 W. 127th St., Palos Heights. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Friday in Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church, 1131 Douglas Ave., Flossmoor.
