Funeral services for Edwin H. 'Eddie' Becker, 91, of 2611 E. Broadway, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church. He passed away Sunday , Sept. 2, 2001 , at 6:17 a.m. at Logansport Memorial Hospital. He was born May 5, 1910, in Chicago, Ill., to Hermann and Alvine Jaeger Becker. He was a graduate of Parker High School in Chicago and a graduate of the University of Illinois where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

He was married to Mary Lewis Nelson in Logansport on July 30, 1936 , who preceded him in death in June 1969.He was later married to Margaret Frushour Wilson, who preceded him in death in 1992.

Survivors include his children , Allen and Judy Becker, Culver , and Nelson and Dixie Becker and Mary Anna and Richard Swennumson, Logansport; stepchildren, Patricia and David Cleveland , Indianapolis, Margi Ann Wilson , Sarasota , Fla. , Linda and Dick Flannery , Newcastle, Pa. , and Loyal and Margaret Wilson, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; 22 grandchildren: William Becker, John Becker, MaryLynn Lewis DelDuco, E. Bray Becker, Merritt Becker, Ted Becker, Tor Swennumson, Erik Swennumson, Kirstin Swennumson Sean Nicholas, Seth Nicholas, Christopher Cleveland, Carroll Hannon, Bally Cleveland, David Flannery, Carrie Flannery, Wilson Rothman, Caroline Rothman, Margaret Elizabeth Wilson, Emily Wilson, Anna Wilson and Kathryn Wilson; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Helen Welsh; brother-in-law Clarke T. Welsh; nieces and nephews, Marilyn Oblander, Carol Lyons, Nancy Nichols, Bob Schuldt, Tac Welsh, Jim Welsh and Bob Frushour. Three sisters and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.

In 1937 , Mr. Becker moved to Logansport and was employed at Logansport Machine Company. In 1938 he and Charles W. Templin founded Alpha Industries , Inc. , which was involved in manufacturing automotive and aircraft parts as well as aluminum die castings and commercial heat-treating. He remained active in the business until it was sold in 1994. He was also Chairman of the Board of Universal Fire Apparatus in Logansport until it was sold in 1988.

Mr. Becker was extremely active in and supportive of Logansport and Cass County during his lifetime. He was involved with the YMCA and was instrumental in the acquisition and construction of the present Cass County Family Y. He served as Chairman of the Cass County Community Chest (presently the United Way ) and was supportive of the Boy Scouts of America.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Logansport , the Logansport Savings and Loan Association , Logansport Chamber of Commerce and the Cass County United Way.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church , Logansport Elks , Orient Masonic Lodge , Logansport Shrine Club , Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and the Indiana Society of Chicago.

For over 60 years Mr. Becker was a summer resident on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver , where he enjoyed watching sunsets, boating, golf, and his children and grandchildren participating in sailing and lake events. He was a member of the Maxinkuckee Yacht Club where he served as Commodore and was a director of the Maxinkuckee Country Club.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Kroeger Funeral Home , and at the church one hour before the funeral on Friday.
