LeRoy McClellan Lacey  

>	LeRoy McClellan Lacey, 83, Kokomo, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Kokomo, a son of LeRoy and Jessie Deeley Lacey. On July 30, 1949, in Bloomington he married Joan Eisenbarth, who survives.

He was a graduate of Kokomo High School, DePauw University, and Indiana University School of Law. He was an active member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He served in the infantry and signal corps during World War II and he was stationed in England, France and Belgium.

He was an active member in the Episcopal Church starting in 1934, when he became an acolyte at age 12. He served on the National Board of Faith Alive, Brotherhood of Saint Andrew and the National Board of Anglican Fellowship of Prayer.

He was a vestryman, warden, and lay eucharistic minister at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church. He was on the prayer team for the Order of Saint Luke, Cursillo host and leader, and a three-time selection to evangelism committee National Episcopal Convention.

He had a distinguished law career of more than 50 years in Kokomo. He also was an economics teacher at Indiana University Kokomo, served as president of Kokomo Rotary and Kokomo Country Club and a member of the board of governors of the Indiana State Bar Association.

He was a 50-year member of Indiana State Bar Association and he was appointed by three governors to serve on Corporation Law Survey Commission.

He loved golfing, sailing, snow skiing, and reading.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan of Kokomo, and four daughters, Elizabeth “Betsy” Parker, husband Greg, their sons Adam and Joshua and his wife Lisa, all of Arizona, Cynthia Gault and husband Chris of Costa Rica and children Andrew, Lacey Anne, Joseph and Daniel, Margaret Smith, husband Mark and daughters Elizabeth and Sarah of Coatesville and Katherine Sterry and her daughters, Anna Grace and Emma Katherine of Indianapolis.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Saint Andrew Episcopal Church, 602 West Superior St., with the Rev. Richard Lightsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church, with a reception following the celebration.

When you remember Lee Lacey please think of the smile he had for everyone, the love he had for his Lord and most of all how he cherished his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Andrew Trust in Kokomo or a favorite charity of your choice.
