    William O. DeVay who was born in Pittsburg in 1850, but removed to South Bend, Ind., in 1867, died at that place yesterday. He was a paper manufactured. Comsumption was the cause of death The Pittsburgh Press - - 19 Dec 1894 ·Page 4

      PRESIDENT OF INDIANA PAPER COMPANY EXPIRES AT SOUTH BEND.

      He was for Many Years a Prominent Indianapolis Buisness Man Leaves a Fortune.

      A dispatch received at 1 o'clock this morning from Mr. Pierre DeVay, at South Bend, announced the death, at 12:35 o'clock this morning, of his father, the well-known William O. DeVay, at his home In that city.

      Mr. DeVay was president of the Indiana Paper Company. Death came after a lingering Illness of nearly two years.

      Mr. DeVay was prominently known as an Indianapolis business man, his headquarters having been in this city for many years.

      About fifteen years ago he was an enterprising traveling man for the Cleveland Paper Company, but his admirable qualifications led him to embark in business for himself and so successful was he that he leaves a fortune estimated from $150,000 to $200,000. All of which he made in the paper business. He was born In Pittsburg in 1850 'and lived there till 1867, when he began steam-boating with an uncle.

      In 1874 he married Miss Agnes Goshen in this citj. At that time he was traveling for the Cleveland paper house. In 1881 he opened a wholesale paper house In this city, and three years afterwards organized the Indiana Paper Company,' with headquarters in this city.

      The company had mills at South Bend and Mishwaka. Mr. DeVay's close application and overwork brought on consumption after some years, and last winter he went to southern California for relief. His health was not much improved, however, and he returned to South Bend, to which place he removed after leaving Indianapolis

      Besides a wife he leaves two sons, Pierre, aged eighteen, and Newton, agel twelve. Mr. DeVay was a member of Mystic Tie Lodge, F. and A-. M., of this city, and he was also a Scottish Rite Mason 'and a member of Raper. Oommandery, Knights Templars. Indianapolis Journal Dec 18, 1894

Last Will snf Testament of Willam O. DeVay
    Know all men by these presents, That I William O. DeVay of Indianapolis, do make and publish this my last willi and testament

    ITEM 1 I give devise and bequeath to my wife Agnes V. DeVay all the propety both real personal and mixed of which I may die seized. meaning and intending hereby to give, devise and bequeath to her, my said wife, all of my property of every name and nature which I hold or own at the time of my death

    ITEM 2 I desire order and direct that all of the shares of the capital stock of the Indiana Paper Company of which I shall be the owner at the time of my death shall be kept and held, owned and controlled by my said wife as a unit, and that the same shall be by her voted at all elections of said corporation as a whole or unit, and that no part parcel or portion of said shares of stock of said corporation shall be sold or disposed of pledged or hypothecated by my said wife, unless the whole of said stock and all of the same shall at the same time be so sold or disposed of pledged or hypothecated meaning and intending to order and direct that all of said stock be kept held and disposed of as a unit and whole and without dividing or diposing of any portion or parcel of the same.

    And i further desire, order and direct that upon my decease my said wife shall take my place in the directory of said company and have the same power, vioe and control in the management of said corportation that I may have and hold at the time of my death.

    I hereby nominate and appoint Agnes V. DeVay my wife, executor of this my last will and testament and I disire and direct that she shall not be required to excute a bond for the faithful preformance of her duties as executrix. If the judge or Court before whom this will shall be probated should decline or refuse to allow said excutrix to qualify without the ececution of a bond for the fathful preformance of her duties. Then I request said court or judge in fixing the amount of the penelty of such bond tp place the same at such sum as will not embarrass or prevent my wife to so qualify as executrix.

    I do herbey revoke all former wills be my made

    In testamony where of, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 16th day of Marcy in the year 1889.
