    Special to the Indianapods Journal LOGANSPORT, Ind., Feb. 14. - This evening at 8 o'clock, at the residence of the bride's parents, occurred the wedding of Emil J. Keller of St. Louis, and Frances C. Shroyer, daughter of Senator A. R. Shroyer, of this city.

    There were about sixty persons present.

    Among those from 3 distance were Mrs. Keller, the mother, and Mr. Keller, a brother of the groom. both of Dunkirk, New York; the father and mother of Senator A. R. Shroyer, of New Castle, Ind.; Mrs. Julia Loir and daughter: Mrs. Kate Mullock and Mrs. Lizzie Bierhaus, of New Castle; N. W. Powell and wife and Mrs. Clift, Mrs. C. Murphy and son, of Crown Point, Ind., and Mrs. Lewis Cole, of Detroit.

    The presents were many and costly.

    The groom is of the firm of Forlicht, Dunker & Renard, of St. Louis.

    The bridal couple left over the Wabash on the 10:30 train for their new home.

      The present manager of the Barnett House has been in charge of the hotel for the past three years and under his administration of its affairs has increased its patronage and high standing among the leading hotels of the state He is well known not only in Logansport but throughout this section as his position brings him into contact with people from the surrounding counties as well as those from more distant points He is genial and courteous ever seeking to meet the wishes and provide for the comfort of the patrons of the house and to his judicious supervision of every detail and department connected with the establishmentis due its high reputation is due its high reputation

      Mr Keller is a young man now in the prime of life as he was born the year that witnessed the close of the Civil war the date of the event being June 12 1865 He is one of the two surviving children in a family that originally numbered five the other being his brother Carl W The parents were Emil F and Frederica Zimmerman Keller natives of Germany The father followed the occupation of grocer and was industrious energetic and successful A true citizen of his adopted country he sought to promote her best interests and to do his full duty He settled in Dunkirk New York about 1850 and continued to make his home in that beautiful little city

      The boyhood and youth of Emil F Keller passed swiftly and pleasantly in his native place Dunkirk his education being acquired in the public schools

      In 1884 he started out for himself and coming to Logansport he entered into partnership with A. L. Turbee They established and carried on the first steam laundry ever located here and were quite successful from the start At the end of about a year Mr Keller sold his interest in the business and went to St Louis where he became the assistant bookkeeper for the Trorlicht Duncker & Renard Carpet Company wholesale and retail dealers in carpets Our subject retained his place with this enterprising firm for some four years at the expiration of which time he returned to Logansport and accepted a position as secretary of the Shroyer & Uhl Company dealers in notions in wholesale quantities

      A year later Mr Keller resigned and embarked in the tailoring business upon his own responsibility Finding a purchaser of the business in the person of his brother Carl W .

      He next turned his attention to his present occupation for which it seems he is specially adapted His general and diversified business experience his wide knowledge of men and his natural qualifications make him just the man for the place of manager of a hotel The Barnett is a house of which Logansport is justly proud as it is conducted upon modern plans is spacious and finely fitted up and is first class in every respect

      In 1889 Mr Keller married Miss Frances Shroyer of this city She was born in Logansport and was here reared to womanhood

    Emil Keller
      Emil Keller a former resident of Logansport, died Friday evening at his home in Hollywood, Calif., according to a communication recieved Saturday by Mrs. Carl Keller, 405 Seventh street, a sister-in-law.

      Keller, who had been a invalid for the past year, at one time manafed the Murdock and Barnett hotels in this city and fifty years ago managed the skating ring at Lake Mackinkuckee. In those days skating was a great fad and Keller, himself, was quite an artitst on the rollers.

      He left Logansport nearly 40 years ago going to california where he had lived ever since.

      Surviving are his wife, the former Frances Shroyer of this city, and a son Roth Keller of Portland, Ore.

      Funeral services will be held at Hollywood an burial made there

He has been ordered to Washington.
