A graduate of Culver Military Academy and a World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Lafayette Knights of Columbus and Rotary lob and St. Mary's of the Lakes Catholic church at Culver

Schilling, a Sagamore of the Wabash, he was a past president of Indiana State Police Board and Indiana Manufacturers Association.
