    Robert McQuat, Pioneer Cottager Passes Away

      Robert McQuat, age 71, pioneer East side cottager, died Tuesday night at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, after an illness of several months.

      He was born in Indianapolis, and spent his summers at Lake Maxinkuckee for many years.

      He atteneded New York Military Academy. He was a retired executive of a life insurance company.

      Surviving are the widow, a sister, Mrs John Holcombe of Washinton, D.C., a nephew, Col. Henry Holcombe of Washington D.C. and a niece Mrs. Roy Baker of Washington D.C.

      The remains will be taken to the Flanner and Buchannan Funeral Home in Indianapolis, but no details have been announced regarding the funeral services. - 1942 - July 29, - Citizen.



    Robert McQuat Former Resident Dead at Culver
      Information was received here today of the death of Robert L. McQuat, age sixty-nine, former resident of Indianapolis anfd son of the late Robert Lockerbie McQuat and Eugenia F. Bufourd McQuat.

      He died Tuesday in a hosital at ROchester after an extended illness.

      Mr. McQuat was born in Indianapolis Septem ber 24, 1872, and was in the insurance business here wntill his retirement approximately ten years ago.

      He moved to a summer home at CUlver about five years ago and had lived there since.

      Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Edith H. McQuat, Culver; a sister Mrs. J. W. Hocombe, Washington, D. C. and a nephew Colonel WIlliam H. Holecombem with the army somowhere in India. - Indianapolis Nes July 29 1941

      Robert McQuat, 69, an isnurance compnay executive in Indianaplis, died Tuesday night at Woodlawn hospital following and emergency operation performed Sunday.

      Mr. McQuat was taken ill while at his summer home at Lake Maxinkuckee.

    Insurance Head Dies
      Indianapolis, Ind. July 30 - Funeral Services were held today for Rovert L. McQuat, 69, former Indianapolis Insurance executive and summer resident at Lake Maxinkuckee for a number of years, who died Tuesday at a Rochester, Ind. Hospital.

      Creamtion followed services today in the Flanner-Buchanan mortuary for Robert L. McQuat, age sixty-nine, former Indianapolis insurance representative who died Tuesday at a ROcohester hospital adfter an extended illness

      The Rev. Thomas r. White, Presbyterian chaplain at the Indiana Reformatory, officiated

      Mr. McQuat, a native of Indianapolis was a descendant of a pioneer Indiana family and attended the New York Military Acadeny and was graduated from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Rensselaer, N. Y.

      He and Mrs. McQUat were married in 1921.

      He was in the isurance business here many years and in 1920 became president of the Businessmen's Indemnity Association, with offices in Indianapolis. Mr. McQuat held that position until his retirement approximately ten years ago. He was also the organirerand officer of the Indiana National Life Insurance Company and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Edith H. McQuat, Culver; a sister Mrs. J. W. Holcombe, Washington, D. C. and a nephew Colonel William H. HOlcombe, witht he army in India. - - Indianapolis News - 30 Jul 1942

    Mrs. Maud McQuat Dies
      Mrs. Maud Laycock McQuat, formerly of Indianapolis, daughter of Mrs. Jackson Landers, 1704 North Talbott srtreet, died Tuesday at her home in Chicago.

      Death resulted from pneumonia,

      Mrs. McQuat resided in this city until one year ago, when she went to Chicago for residence.

      The body will be brough to Indianapolis for burial.

      Mrs. Robert McOuat, a former Lake resident, died at St. Margaret's Hospital in Evansville on Saturday April 12. She had celebrated her 87th birthday on April 4th.

      After the sale of her Lake property on East Shore Dr. to Dr. Charle1921.s Crowe, Mrs. McOuat lived with Mrs. Margaret O'Conner until 1957. A home was reestablished in Newburgh, Ind. where she had lived before her marriage to Robert McOuat in 1921

      She descended from a pioneer family, the Angel family, on whose grounds Indiana University established an experiment laboratory studying Angel Mounds. She attended the Methodist Church.

      Mrs. McOuat leaves two nieces, Mrs. Teodore Nuhing of Evansville and Mrs. Arthur Springer of Chicago, Ill.; two great nieces, Mrs. Dewey Poland of Indianapolis, and Mrs. John Ritter of Evansville; and three great-great nieces.

      Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery Evansville, Ind. on Tuesday April 15.

      Mrs. McOuat was one of the most popular women at the Lake where she was loved by everyone APRIL 24, 1969
