Wesley W Schilling, 89, passed away on June 11, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver.

Wesley was born to the late Walter and Florence Schilling in Lowell, Indiana on May 18, 1925.

Upon turning 18 years of age, Wesley enlisted in the US Navy, serving his country during WWII.

On October 25, 1947 he married Velma Matthews of Knox, Indiana.

Wesley farmed most of his life but had other ventures along the way: a tire/service station, interest in an oil well, 2 car washes, and interest in a bottling plant.

He loved flying and was a licensed pilot and owned his own plane along with Harold Miller, his business partner of many years.

He also enjoyed fishing and just tinkering around the farm. After retiring from farming he went back to work for several years for the Marshall County Highway Dept., Wesley loved his Lord and his church, which was evident to everyone who knew him.

Wesley is survived by a sister: Evelyn Banwart of LaPorte, Indiana; his four children: Beverly (Gary) Burkett of Ora, Indiana, Robert Schilling (Sandy Brown) of Culver, Indiana, Carol (Paul) Olson of Marion, Indiana, and Dora Mishler of Culver, Indiana; grandchildren: Garrett Burkett, Shelley Schilling, Theresa Turcotte, Jonathan Nolfe, Jennifer Jean, Jill Hyndman, and Dana Baird, sister-in-law Fran (Bill) Netters of Niles, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters: Ester Schilling and Mabel Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at Odom Funeral Home in Culver, Indiana on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 3:00 PM with visitation two hours prior to the service.

Burial and graveside services will follow at Culver Masonic Cemetery in Culver, Indiana.

Velma L. Schilling Oct. 20, 2011 ORA Velma L. Schilling, 81, of Ora died Oct. 20, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor, Culver at 6:45 a.m.

She is survived by her husband, Wesley W. Schilling of Culver; daughters, Beverly (Gary) Burkett of Ora, Dora Mishler of Culver, Carol (Paul) Olson of Marion; son, Robert Schilling of Burr Oak; sister, Fran Netters of Niles Mich.; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Odom Funeral Home, Culver.

Funeral service is Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with visitation one hour before the service..

Burial will be at Culver Masonic..

Memorials may be made to Winamac Church of the Nazarene..

In addition to her husband, Velma is survived by her son Robert (Sandy Brown) Schilling of Burr Oak, Indiana, daughters: Beverly (Gary) Burkett of Ora, IN, Carol (Paul) Olson of Marion, Indiana, and Dora (Clint Arnett) Mishler of Culver, Indiana; sister Fran (Bill) Netters of Niles, Michigan, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren..

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister..
