Walter Johnson

No, basball fans, we are not having with us today the former star pitcher for the Washington Senators. Our Walter Johnson also fires 'em in, but on the rifle range instead of the pitcher's mound. He is one of the best pistol and rifle shots on the Culver team, which has won a number of state honors.

Walter was born in Fulton county near Leiters Ford, and came to Culver in 1920. He opened a tire shop in the building now occupied by the tailor and barber shops. His business grew steadily along with the increased number of automobiles and his quarters soon became too small, so in 1925, he purchased the frame structure on the site of the present building, which was built in 1930.

This was Culver 's first complete super service station.
