    Michael Anthony Dies After Illness Of Several Years

    Michael T. Anthony, 71, Ohio and Jefferson Sts., Culver, died at 12:50 p.m., Wednesday at Marshall County Parkview Hospital, Plymouth, after being in failing health for several years.

    He was a retired foundry foreman for the U.S. Steel works at Gary.

    Mr. Anthony was born Jan. 10, 1897 in Czechoslovokia. He had lived in the United States most of his life and at Culver since 1938.

    He was married June 22, 1925 at Chicago to Sophia Abbenseth, who preceded him in death Jan. 3, 1967.

    Surviving are one son, Robert Anthony, at home; two daughters, Miss Joan Anthony at home, and Mrs. Barbara Jean Cavanagh, Brownsburg; one brother, George Anthony, East Gary; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Gaydos, Gary, and Mrs. Mary Hemady, East Gary; and four grandchildren.

    Services were conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday at Easterday- Bonine Funeral Home. Culver , with Rev. Carl Q. Baker, pastor of the Culver United Methodist church, officiating.

    Burial was at Culver Masonic Cemetery. - 18 Jul 1968 Culver citizen

    Sophia Hotel Owner, Dies At AGE of 66

    Mrs. Sophia Anthony, owner and operator of the New Culver Hotel, died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Parkview Hospital in Plymouth after an illness of three weeks. She was 66 years of age.

    Born Sept. 22, 1900, in Chicago to Henry and Margaret (Webber) Abbenseth, she had lived in Culver for 30 years, coming here from Gary, Ind., where she was a member of the German Lutheran Church.
    She was married June 22, 1925, in Chicago, to Michael Anthony, who survives.

    Other survivors include a son, Robert Anthony, at homo; two daughters, Miss Joan Anthony, at home, and Mrs. Barbara Jean Cavanagh of Brownsburg,, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Klumpner of Ottawa, Ill., Miss Eugenia Abbenseth of Gary, and Mrs. Henrietta Fuhlbert, also of Gary; and four grandchildren.

    Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Culver 's Easterday- Bonine Funeral Home, Main and Lakeshore, with Rev. Carl Q. Baker, pastor of the Culver Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Culver Masonic Cemetery.

    Friends may call at Easterday-Bonine Funeral Home after noon Thursday, Jan. 5.

    Memorial contributions to the Culver Methodist Church will be accepted -Thursday, january 5, 1967
