Conduct Final Rites For Jerome Zechiel, Well Known Resident

Funeral Services were conducted at the Grace Evangelical and Reformed Church here on Monday afternoon for Jerome Herman Zechiel, age, 69.

A widely known Culver resident, Mr. Zechiel passed away Friday evening following an illness of two years.

Services were conducted by Dr. Meredith Sprunger, pastor of the local church, assisted by Harvey Harsh of INdianapolis, former local pastor, and Dr. Hardiff Sexton, chaplain at the Culver Military Academy. Interment was in the Culver Masonic Cemetery.

Born south of Culver, Mr. Zechiel had spent his entire life in this community. He was a prominent farmer and livestock dealer. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church where he played an active role until he became ill.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bertha Zechiel; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret White, Covington, Indiana; two sons: Donald, SOuth Bend and Jeroms J., Culver; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Grace Wade, Los Nagles, Calif.; three brothers: Herbert Los Angles, Homer Glendale Calif. and Rev. Otto North Lima, O. - 21 Feb 1951

He married March 10, 1909 Bertha Larua Fechner born April 15, 1885 South Bend died October 14, 1983 Culver Marshall County Indiana buried 16 Oct 1983 Culver Masonic Cemetery Culver Marshall county Indiana She was the daughter of Carl and Olgas Brose Fechner. She was a milliner before her marriage.
