Frederick B. "Fritz" Muehlhausen
MARCELLUS - Frederick (Fritz) Barnes Muehlhausen, age 70, of Marcellus, Michigan, died on Wednesday,
August 7, 2019 at approximately 3:10am at Spectrum Health Meijer Heart Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan,
due to heart failure.
Born on March 16, 1949 in Logansport, IN, Fritz was destined to become a “lakie” through summers at the
Barnes cottage on Lake Maxinkuckee in northern Indiana.
Having lived in Fort Collins, CO and Buck Creek, IN, Fritz retired with his wife Elizabeth Pearce
Muehlhausen at their summer home on Fish Lake in Marcellus, Michigan in 2010.
A “Logan Berry” on the Logansport High School basketball team, and later a graduate of Colorado State
University in Fort Collins, CO, Fritz spent most of his career as a beloved professor in the Building
Construction Management Program of Purdue University’s School of Technology for nearly 30 years.
He is survived by John Gordon Muehlhausen (Amy) Dowagiac, MI, Emily Christine Bopp (Bri- an) Fishers, IN,
Frederick David Muehlhausen (Amanda) Borden, SK, Canada, Kathryn Leigh Robinson (Nathan), Austin, TX, 12
grandchildren, siblings: Gordon Muehlhausen, Christine Williamson, Steven Muehlhausen, all of whom are
very proud of Fritz’s legacy through his students and family.
Service Times: Saturday Aug-10 at New Hope Fellowship, Paw Paw, MI.

Sunday Aug-11 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Logansport, IN. Chapel service 1:30pm, Graveside burial to follow.

Frederick Barnes “Fritz” Muehlhausen, age 70, of Marcellus, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Spectrum
Health Center, Grand Rapids. He was born March 16, 1949 in Logansport, Indiana to Gordon Delmar Muehlhausen and
Betty Jeanne (Barnes) Muehlhausen.
Fritz granduated from Logansport High School and went on to Colorado State University, earning his Bachelor of
Science Degree in 1971, Master of Science 1979 and graduated from Purdue University, PhD in 1989.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Pearce (Muehlhausen) July 10, 1971.
Fritz was destined to become a “lakie” through summers at the Barnes cottage on Lake Maxinkuckee in northern Indiana.
Having lived in Fort Collins, CO and Buck Creek, IN, Fritz retired with his wife Elizabeth Pearce Muehlhausen at
their summer home on Fish Lake in Marcellus, Michigan in 2010. Fritz is survived by four children and their spouses,
and twelve grandchildren. His children and grandchildren love to carry on his love for the outdoors and lake living
on Red Run Drive. He enjoyed golf, fishing, lakefront activities, college basketball and pre football. Fritz was an
active member of New Hope Fellowship in Paw Paw.
Fritz is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Pearce Muehlhausen of Marcellus, four Children; John Gordon Muehlhausen (Amy)
of Dowagiac, Emily Christine Bopp (Brian) of Fishers, IN, Frederick David Muehlhausen (Amanda) of Borden, SK, Canada
and Kathryn Leigh Robinson (Nathan) of Austin, TX, 12 grandchildren along with his siblings; Gordon Muehlhausen,
Christine Williamson and Steven Muehlhausen
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 10, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at New Hope Fellowship,
201 W. Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, where a celebration of life will commence at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Gunderson officiating.
Following services there will be a reception held at the church. On Sunday, August 11, the family will receive guests at
the Mt. Hope Cemetery Chapel in Logansport, Indiana, for a service at 1:30 p.m. followed by a graveside committal.
There will be a reception to follow at St. James Lutheran Church in Logansport, Indiana.
